Former UFC welterweight Jon Koppenhaver, now legally known as War Machine, has found himself in more legal trouble.

A source speaking on the condition of anonymity informed FiveOuncesOfPain.com early Monday morning that Koppenhaver had been arrested by Las Vegas Metro Police over the weekend.

Jay Rivera, a representative with the Public Information Office of the Metro Police Department, confirmed that Jonathan Paul Koppenhaver was arrested Saturday, February 8 at approximately 4 a.m. local time. According to Rivera, a citizen’s arrest was made of Koppenhaver on charges of misdemeanor battery.

Koppenhaver, a cast member on the sixth season of The Ultimate Fighter, had received three years probation and was ordered to pay $2,300 in restitution last February for his felony assault of Darren Zutkow outside a California gym in September of 2007.

Known for his often-erratic messages left via his official MySpace account, Koppenhaver recently was released by the Bellator Fighting Championships following a blog in which he endorsed a potential assassination of United States President Barack Obama.

Koppenhaver, 6-2, had been signed by Bellator as a participant in its upcoming eight-man welterweight tournament, which is scheduled to commence in April.

The current Las Vegas resident had also been released from his contract with the UFC after reportedly turning down a fight against Brandon Wolff and then also publicly speculating about the death of former UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner.

BloodyElbow (http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2009/2/9/754261/war-machine-arrested-in-la):
The night club where Mr. Machine got arrested, Krave, is described as a gay club, but very straight friendly.

TMZ (http://www.tmz.com/2009/02/10/war-machine-busted-for-fighting-at-gay-club/):
Cops tell TMZ security at Krave was escorting War Machine out of the club after a little brouhaha -- when he allegedly turned on security and starting punching them. Security made a citizens arrest until Las Vegas PD could show up.

He may not be gay though... he may have just wanted to go to a club where he could dance withouth being bothered by those pesky girls that always ruin my nights...

Maybe by saying the club is "gay" they mean happy. Like hey this gay club is full of perky happy people. LOL

i'm defending him because i think he's a good person deep down inside. he's just been really misguided in life and because of that, you have, well, WAR Machine.

i look at him and i just feel he's really hurting and wants help but just doesn't know how to go about getting it.

War machine:

"In the beginning of my career it was brought to my attention (by some ignorant advisors, which I now realize) that my image as a professional fighter is more marketable if I am controversial. Controversy does grab attention. Part of creating that controversy is consistently saying things in a public format that I know will cause a reaction. Along with my loyal fans, I know that part of my popularity as a fighter is that people want to see me get my ass kicked. I knew that my Obama bulletin would gain me more fans as well as make a lot more people hate me and that was exactly the reaction I was going for. Obama is one of the most loved people in the country right now.

Once I thought it through, it was too late."

Well, then, you're probably going to be a marshmallow 'cause this sport seems to be a draw for some "emotionally" troubled (maybe even "disturbed") young men. E.g., Chris Leben, Junie and War Machine just to name a few.

i like those guys actually. Leben has improved most but that's because he's been around longer. i can see those other guys doing the same thing....maybe?

I guess only time will tell. I truly hope they can get their acts together before they totally derail.

I can totally feel for them (the 3 mentioned), them coming from a lousy home life, but at some point, as an adult, you decide if you're going to stay that course or change it. It's up to them now.

it's up to them to a point. just because they may think they're fine, doesn't mean they are. it helps if they have support from people that can see they possibly need help and to then help them get it. i don't know if they have that?

Well, they first need to admit they need help. After that, if they don't have a good support system, they have to look for it. People can point out to you that you're headed in the wrong direction or try to show you the right way, but you have to be willing to listen, to learn and to change the course you've been on. None of that's easy and some people just don't want to do what it would take to turn things around for themselves. They want that "immediate" result and if they don't see it, they're too ready to throw in the towel with every excuse as to why it didn't work.

They can have all the help in the world, but in the end, they have to want it in order for things to change and for it to stick.

and Junie has admitted he needs help. War Machine is still a question. a lot of these guys are too ashamed to ask for help (if they even realize they need it) and just do what is safe, comfortable and common for them, and that is to act out.

my point is and alsways has been, do they have anyone to help support them? how many times have you heard someone make a miraculous turnaround in life say, "if it wasn't for so and so" or "i could have never made it without the help of" or "when i couldn't believe in myself, he or she did?"

if more people took the extra time to talk to someone or just listen to someone, the world would be a better place.

Goat, I think we're on the same page but coming at it from different directions--kinda like the saying..."what comes first, the chicken or the egg". I agree they are going to need outside help (they obviously can't do it on their own (some people can, but most can't)). It's great if you have someone in your life who you can turn to, someone to say they believe in you, etc..., but if you don't, and you want to change, you're going to have to make it happen yourself. That's all I'm saying.

I don't know that these guys do have those type of people around them, I hope they do. Look at Roger Huerta and his story with his teacher adopting him--an example of what you were talking about. I think for them to be successful it's going to take both--their desire and people in their life to help them. How's that?

if they're rational/sane, then they should be able to make their own decisions.:) i'm not confident that if they were given a thorough mental health evaluation they would be though. that's the part that gets missed. these guys may not even be sane? :ninja:

Well, there is that. Like you, I'm not sure about War Machine after some of the things he said while on TUF. And, Junie, big ? there too. I've heard Chris Leben was supposedly getting his life together and then you hear he doped, hmmm?

I do know one thing, all three of these guys need to stay away from alcohol.
