I loved the Tori Amos song, I never heard it before.
She made some really amazing music back in the early 90s. I don't know what's happened to her recently though, other than some serious Botox.

Anyways, a song. I remember megamixes being really popular back in the early 90s as well. I guess they are making a comeback, but are now called "mash-ups."
This is probably my favorite, especially considering that I hate about 90% of the songs used for this mash-up, but can listen to them in this form:

I would love to see a fighter come out to this song. The intro is a little long, but the buildup would be epic.

Load was one of their best albums, without a doubt.
Now, re-load, and that flaming pile of audio-waste called St. Anger are horrible.
Their last album wasn't half bad, but I think Rick Rubin being the producer had a lot to do with it.

I remember buying Re-Load when it came out and I liked the first two songs but have probably blocked everything else out of my memory. The very next song I remember hearing from them was Whiskey in the Jar off of Garage, Inc.
To be honest, though, the band kind of left a bad taste in my mouth during that whole Napster controversy and I haven't really paid attention to them much since then.

Lars was basically at the front of a small group of musicians who actually thought they could fight file sharing, and we see how that worked out for them.
Rather than going after their own fans, they would have been better off going after the people who are REALLY robing money from them and that is the RIAA.

( This is what I will be singing at the end of the month. Just the slow section. )
(BTW in the video I burst out laughing during the fast section when she screams "SHUT UP!" LMAO )
The Man I Love
Someday he'll come along, the man I love
And he'll be big and strong, the man I love
And when he comes my way
I'll do my best to make him stay
He'll look at me and smile,
I'll understand
And in a little while he'll take my hand
And though it seems absurd
I know we both won't say a word
Maybe I shall meet him Sunday
Maybe Monday, maybe not
Still I'm sure to meet him one day
Maybe Tuesday will be my good news day
He'll build a little home, just meant for two
From which we'll never roam; Who would, would you?
And so all else above I'm waiting for the man I love
Nice picture, DonnaMaria.
Wow, there's just no one like Ella! That's some humongous microphone she was using. :) Her pitch and phrasing are perfect. Can you scat sing, Donna Maria? I never saw her in concert but I did see Cleo Laine who runs a close second, IMO. This will date me but I think of the memorex commercials when I see Ella.

Thanks flo! That pic was taken right before last years performance! For the last two years I have sang at a local dance academy's year end exibition performance.
The "theme" of last years show was Stage and Screen and all of the dances were set to broadway or movie tunes. I sang Over The Rainbow.
This years theme is "When I Grow Up." All of the music is about different occupations or stages of life for a woman. My song had to represent the feeling of "being in love" so I was able to pick "The Man I Love." I adore the song, mostly because my favorite pairs skaters of all time Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov skated to it just months before he passed on. The song will always remind me of them and their perfect love that ended too soon.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDBVXEz17HE
Beautiful! I could watch old vidoes of them over and over and never get tired. They were perfection!
As far as scat singing.......... it's not my strongest area! But I love it! And I do what I can! I think it's a gift! Either you got it, or you don't! And I don't got it!

Not As We"
Reborn and shivering
Spat out on new terrain
Unsure unconvincing
This faint and shaky hour
Day one day one start over again
Step one step one
I'm barely making sense for now
I'm faking it 'til I'm pseudo making it
From scratch begin again but this time I as i
And not as we
Gun shy and quivering
Timid without a hand
Feign brave with steel intent
little and hardly here
Day one day one start over again
Step one step one
with not much making sense just yet
I'm faking it til I'm pseudo making it
From scratch begin again but this time I as i
And not as we
Eyes wet toward
Wide open frayed
If God's taking bets
I pray He wants to lose
Day one day one start over again
Step one step one
I'm barely making sense just yet
I'm faking it til I'm pseudo making it
From scratch begin again but this time I as I
And not as we

Since it's been one year to the day since Michael died, I figured I would share some of my favorites that are outside of the box of the typical hits. :)
Working Day and Night ("Off the Wall" 1979)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv05lkjTm78
Speechless ("Invincible" 2001)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xf5h2zfmPSI
Speed Demon ("Bad" 1987)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SP410Sv-b2E
State of Shock feat. Mick Jagger ( (single)The Jacksons 1984)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8d7E1g3PZJM
Music and Me ("Music and Me" (album) 1973)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qo7s4rwLnCI
One more...which is probably my absolute favorite, maybe of all time, is...
Who's Loving You (written by Smokey Robinson)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOxIKJTTB2k
(side note, the best version of this song is the Ed Sullivan performance with Little Michael wearing a big purple pimp hat, it gives me goosebumps to this day, but Youtube swung the ban-hammer and all traces have been removed)

Yeah! :happydancing:
I did a remix of that song when it came out, but it got lost on what is the equivalent of the Titanic when it comes to "hard drives in the life of J.B."....
It's actually something that bothers me to this day, because I had added an entire mix of instrumental and vocal parts, and it's not something that can ever be reproduced in the form in which it was...
Okay, I'll share this now cuz it makes me smile! :)

Have you checked out any of Blondie's other stuff? Because of you I've spent the last 5 or 6 hours easily listening to and watching their videos. There are so many great songs and memories from them.
I had such a crush on Deborah Harry when they first came out. I've now got 3 of their cd's and a couple of dvd's waiting for me to buy within the next week.
Check out their other tunes if you haven't, I think that you'll be pleasantly surprised. Everything from Dreaming, Denis, Union City Blue, Shayla, Atomic, Sunday Girl, Hangin' on the Telephone, Detroit 442, etc. Listen to them all.

Great song, way overplayed though, I started to get tired of it
No doubt, I understand that. However, being a DJ and a "music guy", I try not to let that get to me. I try to dictate what I hear at all times, but if you listen to FM radio you are bound to get over-exposed to certain songs.
At the same time, that over-exposure is what gives great songs the exposure they deserve so people can hear it... Wow, that's two paradoxes I've stumbled on this morning while posting on this forum...

This one may come as a bit of a shock to some..
I graduated in 84.. so I am a child of punk, disco, and many other types of music
I love various sound track.. classical.. and just about every type of music...there are some Colombian and Japanese, traditional and modern music that I just can't get enough of...
I am also a "closet country fan"... SHHHHHHHhhhhhhh!!!
And granted most of the country I like is "pop" country... but there is one song... that just slays me....
I load my ipod up with random tunes every week or so.... and listen to it at work.. most of the time it's background noise.. I do really get into some kick arese tunes.. but I haven't heard this one in a LONG time.. and I heard it.. I pretty much stopped.. and just listened.. and even year later.. this song still can choke me up...

To the best of my knowledge, three of the four members are. They're not a "Christian" band though. The lead singer (Dunstin Kensrue) and main writer is Christian.....and it shows in alot of Thrice's songs. I love 'em. They were one of Tim's favorite bands.....his favorite song was "Image of the Invisible"....pretty rockin' tune --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1CVrYCeYGw

I'm almost positive they play the melody to Mad World in the introduction and commercial promos to either "Stolen Voices.." or "Disappeared"--shows I watch on Discovery ID.
