Mannnn , day for crazy news.

i dont see how that thing can hold a little boy . I bet you hes not in the balloon . they keep saying it is a thin plywood bottom and not attatched very well .
so im guessing the bottom is simply lewon plywood , which is the very thin stuff like is on the back of your entertainment center , it has no real structural strength , it would not hold a 6 year old boy . If he is in there , and does not sit very very still i expect the bottom to fall out and the boy to fall to the ground before it lands .

If he is in there i pray for him.

A runaway balloon has touched down in Colorado after a 6-year-old boy untied it from his family home in Fort Collins.

The dome-shaped balloon is 20 feet long and 5 feet high, Larimer County Sheriff's Office says.

The boy was not inside the helium aircraft when it landed, CNN affiliate KMGH reported.

A sibling saw the boy get into the craft Thursday morning. Officials were concerned that the boy may have fallen out of it, an undersheriff said.

Margie Martinez of the Weld County Sheriff's Office said a sibling saw Falcon Heene climb into the basket before the balloon took off from his parents' Fort Collins, Colorado home.

Since the door on the balloon was unlocked, it's possible the boy had fallen out, Martinez said.

The balloon appeared to be a saucer-shaped, Mylar-coated helium balloon, similar to a party balloon. The craft was drifting eastward, authorities said. Watch the balloon float thousands of feet over Colorado

The helium balloon was tethered to the boy's family home, the Larimer County Sheriff's Department said. The boy got into the craft Thursday morning and undid the rope anchoring it.

The department said the dome-shaped balloon is 20 feet long and 5 feet high.

"The structure at the bottom of the balloon that the boy is in is made of extremely thin plywood and won't withstand any kind of a crash at all," said Erik Nilsson, Larimer County emergency manager, according to CNN affiliate KMGH.

A dispatcher received a call Thursday morning, and emergency services personnel were contacted, Larimer County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Kathy Davis said.

Good call, mac! He wasn't in it afterall. I hope he's just hiding somewhere because he let the balloon go.

I call shenanigans too--the WifeSwap appearance, plus the dad's part of some kind of science themed show/website...

Publicity stunt--crappy one...but I'm betting that's what it is...whether they ever admit it or not..

Probably. I say we bill the dad for the resources used to track this balloon thing since it was a false alarm.

Here's the kid saying the parents told him that they did this for the show. Which effectively makes this kid hilarious and the best IRL troll job since Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift. Not only did he troll the media, and everybody watching, but then he pwned his parents on CNN.

Also, looks like a group of internet trolls got together and decided to send Falcon a congratulatory pizza, to which they were also able to get pictures of the pizza arriving. Of course the order was made for cash, so somebody at the house had to pick up the bill, which is also hilarious.

One of the comments said they believed the family drugged the boy to keep him from talking. That would explain the vomitting.

I have a problem with this Papa John's receipt. It shows the same item 3 times with a quantity of 1 next to each. Why didn't they just list it once with a quantity of 3? Very inefficient. Also, the middle pizza (same as the other two) has a different price.

these people should have their kids taken away and the dad charged with mischeif ... then he would get plenty of attention ... seems that is what he was out to get anyway

Completely agree! Im soo tired of parents using their kids to either boost ratings or to get recognized. I cant help but to feel this is a form of child abuse in more ways than one.

these people should have their kids taken away and the dad charged with mischeif ... then he would get plenty of attention ... seems that is what he was out to get anyway

I don't go so far as to think they should lose their kids or be accused of abuse. I think they're ignorant people who wasted a lot of resources for their own publicity, but I wouldn't suggest they should lose their kids. I do think they should pay some hefty fines along with a lot of community service. Hopefully that will be enough to teach them all a lesson and keep the kids from following in their parents footsteps.
