Please read this! This is an e-mail I recieved today reqeusting our help. Our organization is going to see what we can do. I think that you will feel the same way......

Dear Shane and A Fighter’s Chance,

I am writing you to ask your organization to help... my Sister, Jennifer Ellis Moulder. Jennifer is 24 years old and the Mother of two beautiful children. Jaidan Grace is 2 years old and Aaron Lee is 6 months. This story began in January 2002 when she was the age of 17. She had a tragic car accident that almost cost her life. After a two month stay in the hospital (the majority of that in a coma), Jennifer was released. The Doctors said she would be handicapped, but she came through it with seemingly no major problems. She went on to lead a normal life, got married and had her two children. After Aaron was born in 2009, she began to have medical problems. We lost our dear Daddy April 2009, suddenly to a heart attack. Jennifer’s condition worsened, but we thought maybe some of it might be stress. June 2009, after having gone to the Cherokee Nation Hospital on various occasions, Jennifer finally went to a local hospital. Having no medical insurance played a major role in her not being able to go beforehand. The Doctors of Sparks Medical Center began to do extensive tests on her and found many major problems. They found that all her major organs were shoved together due to her previous car accident. Her gallbladder was inflamed to twice its size and was removed with a very extensive surgery. They found she had cirrhosis of the liver and ulcerative colitis. She was released and told she would not qualify for a partial liver, and would need to be put on the liver donor’s list.

The events that have happened since that time are hard to put in words. Cherokee Nation has agreed to help with Doctor visits and some of her medications, but the Doctor has to be their choice and medications are very limited. She has filed for Social Security Disability and continues to wait to hear anything from them. We are told once and if she is deemed eligible, it will take up to 2 years to receive state medical. We are now in a gray area as far as the donor’s list, and I will explain what I mean by this. Cherokee Nation has convinced a Doctor in OK City to get her started on the donor’s list, and told them she is currently waiting on her SS Disability and state medical. Cherokee Nation will not pay for any of the transplant, as it is not in their policy. She will continue to be evaluated every 6 months to see if she is in complete liver failure and is ready for a transplant. Our dilemma is this: If she gets ready for a transplant and we do not have insurance, she will not receive it. The Doctors have told her it could 7 years more or less before she will need the transplant but it is not certain. This is why they will evaluate her every 6 months. They do not know how long it will be for sure. Our other dilemma is her colon disease that has not had an exact diagnosis. It is currently not under control and we have made four trips to the ER since her release in June. Her condition with this disease is very serious. Symptoms she battles daily are pain, nausea and fever. She currently needs a very expensive blood test, to actually show if this is ulcerative colitis or crohns disease, so they can make sure the treatment they are giving her is the correct one. We would love to be able to take her to a “good” Doctor; one like would reside at the Mayo Clinic, as this disease continues to make her almost too sick to care for her small children. Our family has helped with the children, but Jennifer wants to be the one to care for them; however, her sickness makes it very difficult. As her Sister, I have tried to encourage her it will all be fine and try to comfort her when she is crying and worried about not getting to raise her babies but when you know you will die without proper intervention it is hard to cope. Jennifer has kept her hopes up, yet sometimes it is hard to convince her when it is obvious that really, money is the key. It is the key to good Doctors and the right medicine. When I look at what your organization stands for and how you believe everyone deserves a fighting chance it makes me feel certain you are the one who can help us. Jennifer is and has always been a fighter and I want to see her win this match.

Thanks so Much!
Kellie McKinney

I received this e-mail today from Kellie and have spoken with her. A good friend (Brian Foster) of the organization and a member of the HIT Squad has previously donated the gloves and shirt he wore in UFC 103 to her. They brought $1000. To receive the medical treatment she needs she will require many more thousands than that. I would speculate in the hundreds of thousands. That is a tall order but that is OK with me I have never liked to climb hills; give me a mountain. I didn’t create this organization to climb hills anyway.

Imagine if 30,000 people gave $10 dollars? Those are really realistic numbers aren’t they?

Can you imagine living day to day thinking it’s a real possibility that you may not live long enough to raise your children? Could you remain hopeful during trials of this magnitude? I say it would be hard for any of us. But I also say that it is our duty while we are on this Earth to love our brothers and sisters through times like this and do our part to help them fight their fight.

Can you imagine reading this story and not helping? Will you do your part?

When I read Jennifer’s story I see a fighter. I see a fighter that not only made it through a wreck she shouldn’t have but fought her way out of a coma with no permanent disability. Now she is fighting her toughest opponent, she is fighting an opponent that doesn’t want to claim a title or a belt but one that wants to claim her life. I have based my life and this organization on the premise that no matter how unevenly match the fight is an individual always has and deserves a fighter’s chance.

Will you help us give her this “fighter’s chance”?

If you are a specialist and want to offer your services please contact me. If you are a celebrity or celebrity fighter and want to donate something to the charity for this initiative please contact me. If you just want to do your part please donate or if you have other ideas please contact me. Jennifer and her children need your help. I am begging you for your help.

I should have photo's of Jennifer soon and a video within the next week or so. We will also be at the Dallas convention center at the Dollamur event on October 17th if you want to come show your support. Dollamur is donating a booth to us.

I am going to try to be there as much as possible but with my current injuries I don't know if I will make it all day. I will have a chair, pain pills, and ice on hand though. LOL

Oh and Matt Lindland is sending me some items he is donating. I don't know what they are yet but I'll let ya'll know.

I had a great conference call with TapouT this morning and they are going to think about what they can do to help us at the booth.

This is a picture of Jennifer Moulder. She lives in Oklahoma and could die without proper treatment. Could you imagine those two gorgeous little children going through life without thier Mommy? With your donations we can give her this treatment. Please go to our website and donate something.... A $1, $2, $10, or more. It doesn't matter anything you can give will help her. Please help.

I am going to suggest she join the forum and post here so your support and responses will be uplifting I'm sure.

Thank you very much!!! Every dollar counts! My hope is to reach the masses and to be able to affect more lives.

We are eventually going to hold events and sell merchandise. We will raise money for the charity then help others. It is the people like yourself that keep these things alive. Please let others know about us.

I think that is a good idea since it will help drum up traffic to the site so more people will be aware of the charity and what you plan to do to help others.

Just curious Shane as to whether Jennifer has any other form of health insurance, such as her state's medicaid? I used to work for NY state medicaid through Blue Cross so I know that if and when she is approved for SSD, she will become automatically eligible, but until then, if she is unable to work, she would surely meet income guidelines.
I know a lot of people don't want to apply for it due to the social stigma it holds because of people abusing it, but this is truly what it was created for. If she has not yet applied, I would strongly urge that you suggest it to her.
This is a wonderful thing you're doing!

She has applied for SSDI and Medicaid. It explains a waiting period in the letter from her sister in my first post. That was the first thing they let me know was she has applied and could get approved Eventually.... I don't like playing waiting games with someone's life so I said I might as well see what we can do. Also You and I both know that the government want be offering to send her to the Mayo clinic.

Thank you so much for you input and advice I appreciate it. Also thanks for the kind words.

OK all if you are going to be in Dallas Texas this weekend come to the Dollamur Tournament and MMA fight at the Dallas convention center. I will have a booth set up for A Fighter's Chance.

Also say a prayer for me as I have a "HUGE" meeting Saturday with a TV Network that could mean something very big for the charity and me. I can't elaborate at this time but please pray that it turns out positive if it's in God's plan!!

Thanks

Well I geuss I get to tell all of you now. NBC is planning to debute a new MMA Reality show in February with host Scott Templeton it will be called "A Fighter's Chance" after my charity. The primise is that we will take people who wnt to become proffessional fighters an put them in a camp and see ho they do. There will also be community service/charity work required of them. That's where I come in and will be on the show for these efforts.

Be praying for us that everything goes well and we make the most of this opportunity. We have two years contracted. I am hoping we go tothe HIT Squad for some of it which is a great place with the dorms and all.

I am very new here and this is my first post but i couldnt have found a better thread to do my first post on. with that said----->

I am in Afghanistan and my internet is kinda crappy so sometimes the pages dont load very smooth and i didnt see the website to which i am suposed to make my donation. I would love to get that website and i would also love to donate. I am goin on R&R (vacation from deployment) around the 14th and will be home for the holidays so money is kinda tight at this time, so i cannot donate as much as i would like to. BUT if the page will load over here im sure I wont miss 50 dollars or so. I read her story and It made me tear up especially after i saw the pics. I have a 1 year old and could not imagine Thier mother not being there for him.

Something i think everyone here should look at when thinking "can i donate" is next time you are in the store and you pick up a Redbull... or case of soda.. beer.. something that you dont really need. Just ask yourself do i really have to get it this time? Thats wat i did and realized i dont have to have that one redbull that costs 3 bucks every day... So if you really want to donate think of wha tyou can give up to make it possible.

When January comes i will be donating more i hope if not January then feb or march for sure. Also I would like some info on the new TV series. I am active duty army on my third deployment and stoplossed, so once i get back from this one in Juneish I will be out of the army and I am planning on going to matt's gym and doing his training camp. I would love to become a professional fighter in the next few years.

Anywho, hit me up with that website so i can help Jennifer and her family out please and thank you!! :) :)

One of the downtown neighborhoods in Raleigh does this "artwalk" every year in Dec. They set up booths all along on people's porches and all over the yards and local artists sell their wares. It's in the historic housing district so you get to see the houses as well. It's a pretty big thing evidently that is several blocks worth of walking. They also do music and food. Should be interesting. It's going to be in the upper 40s and sunny so not a bad day to be outside. It's something to do that is free, outdoors, and cool to look at. Right up my alley.

Us posting this much will bring it attentionto the thread so I don't feel it necessary to move any of the posts. However, if the original poster requests it, I certainly have no problem doing so.

Now back to Jennifer's story......

Eli

Eli,

First of all, you have helped regenerate my belief in human compassion and it warms my heart to see that you actually “get it.” You are in a horrible situation and away from your family and instead of thinking about your problems you are trying to help another human being. That is what I want people to get out of this charity. We all have problems and stories to tell but when we join together we can really make a difference and it will conversely improve our own lives. There is truly no better feeling than giving with a thankful heart.

There are so many people out there who are so wrapped up in themselves and the ubiquitous sense of despair in the world they don’t realize that there are people in worse circumstances and they forget about what God asks of us. If they would just start doing a good deed for someone else daily and asking them to pass it forward. I truly believe they will experience a miraculous change in their life and their sense of well being.

I have to remind myself of this daily and try to live by what I teach. I am going through some issues in my life right now and I am cognizant of the fact that I will falter but I owe it to God, my family, you all, and my own personal sense of integrity to try and live the message of this organization. And people like you are a breath of fresh air and add fuel to my fire. Thank you!!!

And going along with what you said if a million people gave a dollar, which everyone could do, just think of all the people we could help.

We are still working out details on the TV show but I’ll keep you posted.

I want to thank you for your support and what you are doing for our country.

Its kinda neat and funny how god works.. Matt Hughes to me a week ago was a UFC fighter ( the best may i add) and i come here looking for information on MMA and workouts and nutrition.... and in turn i find that, among being a great fighter, he is a great person and we have an amazing group of people who are like me in alot of ways.

I believe everything happens for a reason and god has his plan for us all. We may never know his plan or the path he is leading us down.

Shane, you brought something to my mind i wasnt even thinking about lol.. we all have problems.. i have issues of my own but there are tons of people out there who do have it alot harder then me. I think i found me a nice little home here and I am looking forward to my life once i am out and any chance i will have to help someone else. thanks again for having me here guys.

It is truly awesome how our omnipresent and all knowing Lord guides our lives. Matt is a personal friend of mine and I can assure you he is a great person. He has his flaws like all of us but he stands for what he believes in. He is a board member of my charity and no matter how busy he gets he has always taken time to return my texts and emails. He has helped me out tremendously in may ways.

If you get a chance to go to the HIT Squad I suggest you do.

In the meantime if you need some help with nutrition or workouts e-mail me. I am also an MMA/ BJJ instructor and had a personal trainer’s license so I would be glad to help.

I am so glad you chose us to communicate with. I look forward to getting to know you more.
