BEIJING - CHINESE doctors were shocked when they discovered a one-year-old girl was carrying a baby in her stomach.

According to media outlets on Wednesday, Kang Mengru, 1, worried her parents and doctors after her belly became grossly enlarged.

After a CT scan was done, the doctors were amazed to discover a foetus inside the little girl's stomach.

The foetus is believed to be Mengru's parasitic twin, the result of one twin embryo not fully separating from the other.

Mengru has been hospitalised and is waiting for an operation to have the foetus removed, reported news.com.au.

On South Park, they called that Conjoined Twin Myslexia. However, that character had a dead fetus attached to her head.

Obviously, it's extremely rare, sure hope that girl is going to be ok!

Is the parasite a living baby or just a dead fetus?

totally. a girl I know got a cyst removed from her abdomin and it had hair and teeth in it. She told us about it and I almost barfed in front of her.

She is pretty open about talking about it. I just have a weak stomach when it comes to certain things. I think my eyes started watering because I dry heaved ever so slightly when she was talking about the teeth.

Hard to say. It looks like it's growing so I'm guessing it's either alive or growing like a tumor of some kind.

Scientific question there buddy.

I don't care to have the abortion debate here again.

Well, in reference to my statement about the South Park episode, it was just a dead fetus.

I was thinking more along the lines of current topic of discussion.

If infact it was a living fetus in the girl I wonder if abortion would be the only recourse. a 1 yr old could never give birth to my knowledge without it being most certainly killing both.

I have never heard of a parasitic twin that survived after removal. These are so rare because usually what happens is, during early growth one fetus encircles the other. They both usually die and the mom miscarries.
