'All Mr. Penn wanted to have on Jan. 31 is a fair and just bout and he continues to seek a fair and just encounter with Georges St. Pierre'

this was from the letter sent to the NSAC

GSP has beat him twice, I don't think they'd give him another shot. It sounds like sour grapes to me. Sheesh, GSP kicked Matt TWICE in the, um, groin and Matt just went on with the fight. Now BJ is accusing GSP of being too lubricated? They do check that before the fighter enters the octagon, don't they?? I wish he would just accept his loss, I'm no expert but he looked absolutely gassed the last round.

Here's the latest, GSP hasn't commented yet...

well in fairness, flo, GSP's corner was caught twice, rubbing vaseline on his chest, shoulders and back. they had to wipe it off twice. that won't get rid of the vaseline though. soap and water will. no one told Penn's corner until after the fight, that GSP was, in fact, using vaseline on his body.

and Matt has come out and said, i believe it was 2 years ago originally, that GSP felt greasy or slippery.

Oh, I didn't know that, thanks. That is kind of discouraging, I didn't notice that during the fight (well, that's why I like to read the comments here - I wasn't on the forum that night). I thought GSP had too much integrity to try and get an unfair advantage that way.

Kinda changes things...

(Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of BJ Penn too. Which is why his letter to the NSAC surprised me.)

Wiping Vaseline off with a towel is difficult when its cold, but put it on a human body and it warms up and becomes very thin and is easily wiped off with a towel.

Goat all your arguments are pure supposition based soley on your lack of knowledge in regards to:

1. how much if any Vaseline was applied to GSP's back( you are not Nurse and you do not know how much was still present on his hands....if any.)

2. How much if any was actually wiped off, unless you were actually there your argument holds no water.

Vasoline or not. Does BJ really expect the outcome to be any different if they squared off again? He is fighting outside of his natural weight and giving up 20-30 pounds of lean muscle mass to a guy that is getting better all the time. Even on the feet GSP was getting off first and landing at will. GSP is one of the only guys that can take BJ down, my guess is that isn't going to change. I don't want to see this fight a third time. BJ looked tired and slow at 170, well not even...at 168 lbs, he's 1-3 at welterweight. He should just stay at lightweight and be dominant there.

GSP says bring it on.

I doubt anyone really wants to see that happen again though. In the later rounds I felt sorry for BJ. He was really taking a pummeling. It was like when Matt Hughes fought Gracie. At first I was thinking... man this is going to be a legendary bout... and then you just felt sorry for Gracie as the match unfolded and you saw that Matt outmuscled and outmatched Gracie in every way possible. Noone likes watching on-sided beatings. I felt the same way during Brock vs Couture.

Go back to 155 BJ. Or just quit. Looking back through BJ's record he's not even in GSP or Hughes league.

I do believe that there does need to be an investigation into the whole GSP/Vaseline thing. BUT, BJ needs to rethink about getting a rematch because I do believe the outcome would be the same. BJ was simply out of his league.

I'm just curious if Kos or Fitch has had any thing to say regarding the greasiness of GSP. Matt Serra, BJ, & Matt Hughes have all come forward with statements verifying the same thing. Which Serra and BJ's claims in my book, don't hold much weight, but to hear it from MH himself......well that puts a whole new spin on things. And I really had no idea that Matt had stated it before. I could see pride getting in the way for Serra and BJ, but MH.......NO! Does anyone knmow if there have been similar statements from Fitch or Kos?

BJ's problem is his career is full of attempts to test himself at other weights.

Ya, just cause u wipe vaso off with a towel don't mean its fully gone and when u start sweating its almost as bad..
Far as a rematch I'm not sure anyone will be excited to see this at all. BJ just looked aweful from rd1 on imo..BJ is a great fighter, but thats being at 155lb division where he seems naturally bigger than most of them.

he would be signing his own death certificate if he took this re-match ... dana wouldn't do it ... it would not be responsible of him ... even though he gave us shamrock v. tito 3 times, i think he would have learned his lesson and not put it on ... I say Dana should do it so that BJ can be shut up for good

why would anyone want to see them fight again? Bj didnt even show up on saturday. Got completely dominated

It would be just a waste of time and a reason for Bj to put the lw division on hold for another 8 months

haha yep maybe if they fight again bj might actually land a punch or somthing but the outcome will still be the same. Georges is to big, strong, fast, athletc, etc for bj.

Doe anyone seriously want to see this fight again? I would much rather see Bj sfend his title against Kenny and GSP defend his title against Thiago. Those are far more interesting fights.

yours is pure supposition since the NSAC felt there was enough put on him to be illegal. the NSAC had to come in not once, but twice to rub it off. and the head of the NSAC has said that BJ wasn't given a fair fight.

my argument needs no water, the video speaks for itself. the other fighters now coming forward speaks for itself and the NSAC certainly speak for themselves.

it is irrelevant if it was rubbed off, wiped off, fact is he cheated by having on him and needing it to be removed twice.

and no one told BJ until after the fight that GSP was greasing. if they had, maybe they would have asked for BJ to rubbed down too.

Me.. if only to see GSP actually get the Hughes crucifix on Penn right..

Thiago needs to make weight a few times before getting a shot IMO.. maybe fight Fitch again..

Okay, all I gotta say is...If I am not allowed to whine a little bit about the crappy calls in the Super Bowl without being called a sore loser, then BJ Penn fans seriously need to STFU...

all I got to say...

He only has a chance if he wins his next defense, they wont arrange something before that I dont think.

If his head aint straight for that...he might lose it

I get Florian. I see a lot of myself in him: nerdy middle class kid who loves the competition. He wrote a really good article in this month's Fight! magazine (I got a subscription for Christmas!!!). It was kind of a mini-autobiography of his mental development through the sport. Good read, I'll see if I can post it here.

If I have enough time, I'll type it out. It's not that long.

Do you have a decent digital camera? You can take a picture of the article (don't use a flash if it's a glossy magazine) and with even 7 megapixel resolution you can get a picture of the article that's readable. :)

I'd rather see them defend their belts or even a GSP/Silva vs watching Penn get dominated again. Now I know why Dana kept calling BJ on the show to see if he was training. He didn't want this to happen. He wanted a good fight.

BJ can't beat GSP at this point. He can't get into good enough shape at 170.
