Yes she is the woman who sings in the Mission Impossible OST and Gladiator OST...I think she's also in Troy OST...and many others, she often works alongside my favourite composer, who is known for covering some of the largest OST in movie history

one of the BEST pieces of music ever written by Hans Zimmer, its taken from Hannibal OST and even includes a bit of dialogue of a lecture that is given within the Movie. The song itself conjoins two bit of liturgy, The Kyrie, Which is a prayer that begs for forgiveness, and the Agnus Dei, another prayer for forgiveness but one that also asks for peace, they appear in the correct order of the Latin Mass within the track, (when the whole piece is viewed in full) also please note the bells chime thrice at three mins into it! This is also fascinating as its what happens at the conclusion of the Epiklysis when the Host is Concecrated, again its in the correct order, between Kyrie and Agnus Dei

Its also got special extra meaning, as we know the Celebration of the Eucharist is the feeding on body and blood of Christ, some denominations take that very seriously...here it is juxtaposed within a film about cannibalism.

All that...from a backing track!

I know...it reminds me of someones entrance actually...I can imagine going through a hall, and the further you go the more the music builds with introductions of the insturments...you'd have to cut it off at after the three min bells...but that would be about right for the time it would take to get to the cage

It would also have great symbolism "Lord have Mercy" "Lamb of GOD" right before a fight...not sure if it would be praying for ones self...or ones enemy actually.

Its a favourite piece of mine :) I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Josh, what are your views on this next track. Its a very similar set up, in that it uses a piece of liturgy in a Gothic setting. its written by Goldenthal, whose like a dark version of Zimmer. He also uses the appropriate piece of Latin Liturgy. He's composing for the gothic ikon Nosveratu, and rather then the Eucharist, he chooses to focus on a passage from the Requiem (Feast for the Dead)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1TZNRQhHJU

The words are "lberate me, Lord, from eternal death" ...and look at the tag line "Drink from me and live forever" its a pun of course on the words of Christ, but used as a Luciferian Lie, about living as gods if you eat of the apple...and then the stunning Chorus whose words are "light eternal grant unto him Oh Lord..." Thats significant, because light CAN kill Nosveratu.

Both Men also use multiple languages

in Zimmers work you have Latin, Greek, English...and whatever the lone woman sings after the lecture about Azavarus. In this you have the lone woman singing in some other language as well, she is not singing the words of the Requiem, but it does still sound latin to me, whereas the lone woman in Zimmer sounds like its possibly italian or spanish. infact...I'm not convinced that the lone voice in Goldenthal is a woman, it might be a young trebble actually, because it sounds like a male choir to me, could be a male soprano. Infact...I'm positive its a male soprano. They are called a Trebble...I was a Trebble was I was younger...wish I could still sing like that now :'( This will be being performed by a ground of lads between 8-12 if you can believe that.

but its definatley a woman in Zimmer.

You will find that two of these three are Instrumentals. Often they are better then the song with vocals

The first half of P&P played on the piano. The guy is very gifted indeed, because this is not an easy one to play...infact I wasnt sure it could really be done just on a piano. The music is dark, and reflects a scenario that takes place in the mind of a musician, not unlike the one mentioned by Poe. In his minds eye "the poet" dies strapped to a table with a decending blade swinging back and forth, but unsure of whether he might drown by the rising tide first.

perhaps my all time favourite Nightwish track. This is a difficult track to summerize, its about those little things in life that make it what it is, and what life becomes without those little things. It reminds me of my First United States Tour...so it kinda reminds me of America and of some of the people on here that I met, like Nathan, and Boomer, and Matt Hughes :)

I thought it was pretty good but I didn't like it as much as the first one.
I can recognise Zimmer through Trademarks that he leaves in his work. One is his rythmn, He modulates the tune to reflect something European and turn it into something Asian

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pn3QWkRyjSg this is part of the Gladiator Soundtrack where he uses a structured drumming rephrane. Its more emphasized in his Pearl Harbour sequence which uses almost an indentical rhythmn but turns it from European to Asian http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FQT5sco1OI

I can hear him in his music  Enough that when I heard this after Glaidator I knew he was the Composer, before I checked later to see if I was correct. :ashamed: On the Gladiator soundtrack he has the rythmn but its played by different styles of drum, the offbeats particularly, in the Pearl OST he has the same type of drum playing the full rythmn...but this difference doesnt fool me...should have seen me in the cinema hahahahaaha. Gladiator came out in 2000, and Pearl was about May 2001. Sarah and I went to see it several times LOL...I do that with films I like because you never capture it all in one sitting...Blade Trinity I watched four times hahahahahaha...anywhoo...so when I heard the music at that point, I remember its first used well before the attack scene, when the Japanese are shown to be planning the attack, and I jumped out of my skin, I was like "its got to be Zimmer, its got to be Zimmer" she was like "shhuuuuuuuuuuush" hahahaha Ironically I went to see Hannibal with her aswell, that was a G-Floor outing, the entire lot of us pre-booked for opening night, and had to be shown to our front row seats because the film had already started by the time they had packed a full cinema...ive never watched a film with so many people in the same room...I couldnt concentrate!

Last I heard, Sarah had made it to New York (She got kicked out of University at the end of the first year LMAO) but she happened to work at the Guildhall for the same years I worked at Saint Paul's...then she went to America and her email stopped working and I've not heard of her since :(

Here is Siegfreids Funeral Music, composed by Richard Wagner, if you listen you can hear a trademark that Zimmer uses in his Gladiator Crescendo.

Wagner was an inspiration to many people from all streams, He impressed other Musicians, He impressed the Philosopher Greats, like Nietzsche for example and he even became a favourite with big Politicians, like Adolf Hitler for example, who used this music as the backdrop to the Funeral of his top Commander in The Check Republic who was assassinated.

:) Despite what you hear, the City of London is only a Square Mile in size, it only holds One Cathedral, that of a dedication to Saint Paul, which stands on the site of an Old Monastic Foundation. Almost noone lives in London, its almost completely Business and 4o odd tiny parish Churches with next to no congregation. The Cathedral belongs to the People, and if the Queen wishes to enter, she must ask the Dean of Saint Paul's since it is NOT Her Cathedral. The Ranks are considered extremely important, The more senior you are the further back you come BUT this is subject to one whose property you stand. In the first Video the ArchBishop walks AHEAD of London, because it is LONDON Cathedra which is in Saint Paul's The Monarchy only gets to walk behind him BECAUSE she is Defender of The Faith Categorically NOT because she is also Queen.

But the Seat of Power has always been The City of Westminster. Where The Queen has her own Cathedral (A Royal Pecular) Known as WestMinster Abbey.

London has many Boroughs and within those Boroughs lie many other Cathedrals, Lambeth holds The Roman Catholic Cathedral of Saint George, Southwalk holds Southwalk Anglican Cathedral, North London holds Saint Aulbans Anglican Abbey, and WestMinster holds The Roman Catholic Cathedral of Westminster.

You have come here in pursuit of
your deepest urge, in pursuit of
that wish, which till now
has been silent, silent . . .

I have brought you, that our passions
may fuse and merge, in your mind
you've already succumbed to me
dropped all defences completely succumbed to me, now you are here with me:
no second thoughts, you've decided,
decided . . .

Past the point of no return -
no backward glances:
the games of make believe
are at an end . . .

Past all thought of "if" or "when" -
no use resisting:
abandon thought,
and let the dream descend . . .

What raging fireshall flood the soul?
What rich desire unlocks its door?
What sweet seduction lies before us . . .?
Past the point of no return,
the final threshold, what warm,
unspoken secrets will we learn?
Beyond the point
of no return . . .

You have brought me to that moment
where words run dry, to that moment
where speech disappears into silence,
silence . . .

I have come here, hardly knowing
the reason why . . .
In my mind, I've already
imagined our bodies entwining
defenceless and silent -
and now I am here with you:
no second thoughts, I've decided,
decided . . .

Past the point of no return
no going back now:
our passion-play has now, at last,
begun . . .

Past all thought of right or wrong -
one final question:
how long should we two wait, before
we're one . . .?

When will the blood begin to race
the sleeping bud burst into bloom?
When will the flames, at last, consume
us . . .?

Past the point of no return
the final threshold, the bridge
is crossed, so stand and watch it burn . . .

We've passed the point of no return . . .

My Favourite verse is the one they usually skip. Verse Two :ninja:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfzZdSxkzMw (just to illistrate to the Americans on this Forum. This is the German National Anthem with Translation. They DO NOT sing thats first verse, it is considered TOO Nationalistic :unsure-1: one of the comments says only the third verse is now played...but I think they still did second and third as of a few years ago. The fascinating thing is that the SS and Nazi used a secondary anthem anyway...which unbelievably is NOT Nationalistic, but rather plays on the liberation from oppresion of the German people, the same thing all Adolfs speeches prior to his dictatorship were about All about "Comrades whom Red Front and Reaction shot dead march in spirit within our ranks... already millions are looking to the Swastika, full of hope, the day of freedom and bread is dawning, soon Hitlers flags will flutter over barricades, our sevitutde will not last much longer now" See he conned them with propgandar based on lies and false hope when they were in dispair and needed something to believe in)

While I was in Columbia, I shot a few other videos...

Here is us getting pulled over by the cops, for shooting video the day after the terrorist bombing.. If you look close you can see the motorcycle driver spot me.. I have been scared before.. but not like that.. those cops had steel cold eyes.. in hindsight it was pretty stupid to be filming..

The best bits of Verdi.

Dies Irae and Tuba Mirum (Day of Wrath and Trumpet Sounding)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVjDP0vlem4

Libera Me (Liberate Me)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgLVHMEzOxE

A Beautifully Bombastic interpretation of the Mass For The Dead, beaten only possibly by Berlioz who wrote for a Chorus of thousands...its why his work is never performed no more hahaha

I'm lucky enough to have seen Verdi Requiem Twice in Saint Paul's, and Faure Requiem once in Saint Pauls, The Peace Mass of Jenkins in York Minster and Jenkins Requiem in Ripon Cathedral all in the past five years...I once also saw Halle Orchestra play Holst Planets Suite in Lincoln Cathedral.

I wasnt around for the last performance of Berlioz Requiem in The Royal Albert Hall at the Proms...and some bugger has removed all the videos from youtube recently of the event :'(

Stroope

I like his music because it has absolutely great harmonies.

Magnificat
The Biblical record of the acceptance speech that Mary gave to Gabriel on hearing that she would be the woman chosen to bear the Incarnate Christ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Paz32bGCVW4

I Vow To thee/Homeland
A version of the Hymn I vow to thee my country. Although the music is Holst, the setting is Stroope Almost right away you can hear his dynamic use of harmony, particularly in the lower registers.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxQORmdxcI4

Dies Irae
The Dies Irae is a Latin prayer in the form of a poem. It deals with the theme of Judgement, and forms part of the extra liturgy added to the Mass to convert the Mass into a Requiem. Requiem Mass are performed as Feasts for The Dead. The Dies Irae is the second portion of text in the Requiem Mass Liturgy, right after the Introit
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckMYKA543Qc

Some of his music is an aquired taste though

The Conversion of Saul
The question is put to the Pharasee by the Ressurected Christ, as to why Saul is hunting Christians and persecuting them. It would be the start of a dramatic conversion and the birth of the most prolific new testament contributor under GOD.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QA6tHocAdsM

The Lament of Jeremiah
Jeremiah was the unfortunate prophet that had to tell the Nation of Israel that GODs patience was swiftly running out. When the Nation of Israel ignored him GOD brought the distruction of the Temple. Unfortunately, as much as Jeremiah understood GODs reasoning, he loved the Temple very much indeed, and it distressed him most terrible to be alive to view its fate. The music is one of the most pleasent durges ever written.

Some of my Favourite Libera Tracks

Voca Me, is a tune for Passiontide and the Crucifixition of Christ at the Festival of Easter.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMH5xy9gWxQ

As secret as a dream you called
as silent as the night for all you cried
lacrymosa (Sadness)

lacrymosa, (sadness) dies illa, (day of tears/sadness/mourning) dollorosa Domine (Lord of the way/stations of the Cross)
Voca Me (Call/speak to me)

you whispered in my silent sleep
you answer to my call when lost I cry
Lacrymosa (Sadness)

Be Still My Soul- A Hymn for The Kingdom Season that focuses on The Feasts of the Dead, specifically Remembrance Sunday when we recall the lives lost at war.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omlBeCGLFG4

1. Be still, my soul; the Lord is on thy side;
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul; thy best, thy heavenly, Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

2. Be still, my soul; thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence, let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul; the waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below.

3. Be still, my soul, though dearest friends depart
And all is darkened in the vale of tears;
Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart,
Who comes to soothe thy sorrows and thy fears.
Be still, my soul; thy Jesus can repay
From His own fulness all He takes away.

4. Be still, my soul; the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul; when change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep- a Funerial Poem set to music

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQ8EGg-0lYc

Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glint on snow, I am sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain.

Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. When you awake in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush, of quiet birds in circling flight, I am the soft starlight at night.

do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there.
I do not sleep.

Te Lucis Ante Terminum (Before the ending of the day) Is my absolute Favourite, its based on the Office Hymn of Evening Prayers (The Monastic Office of Vespers) It asks for Protection during the night in much the same way as the Collect "Lighten the darkness we beseech Thee, O Lord, and by thy Great Mercy, Defend Us from all perils and dangers of this Night, for the Love of thy Only Son, Our Saviour, Jesus Christ"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiCxI_oZplQ (Moorlough Shore)

I have waited long for you to come back home
to hear you call my name again
in my heart's deep soul you've not changed at all
and the years have passed you by
your sweet lips that lingered on my skin
i can feel their heat again
and your eyes that thrilled with passion's fire
they watch my every whim

some say my love, sweet love was lost
while crossing the raging main
or perhaps he has gone with some other girl
I might never see his face again
but if my irish love is lost he's the one I do adore
and for seven long years i'll wait for him
on the banks of the moorlough shore

he said farewell to castles grand
farewell to the foggy hills
where the linen waves like bleaching silk
and the falling stream runs still
near there we spent our joyful days but alas they are all gone
for cruelty has banished him
far away from the moorlough shore

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXdeKAB4SBQ (My Reason)

Remember the place
Oh wonderful day
The moment our fate was revealed

Through my eyes you can see
All the love within me

Oh all that i have
My soul i will give

I know i believe
Your my reason to live

Colours are fading
Lost in the dark
Tears of blood staining
Snow freezing my heart

Now i am leaving
My world is nomore
My love my all
Into your arms i fall
Your my reason

Take me away
I'll go where you are
I'll follow my heart to the end

With the pain far behind
Where you'll sleep i'll fly

Oh take me away
My life i will give
All that ï have
Was for you my reason

:w00t: Perfect day

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeVV2KD1GqU

The rain has moved on
And left a new day
Nothing seems to move everything is still
It?s just a perfect day

The shadows and light
That move with the wind
Hidden violets grow splashed with summer spray
Just another perfect day

On the wild and misty hillside
Fear is nature?s warning
Hunger here is never far away

And all of this world
Is for children who play
Days that never end always should remain
Another perfect day

The final moments of "Principles of Lust" followed by the Sadness Reprise (a postlude if you like)

It then moves into "away" :) Ending with the opening...or perhaps their greatest piece ever "Mea Culpa"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7wYJuGroSc

Begins with the fabulous "Mea Culpa"

I dont speak French, so I dont exactly know the story (Mea Culpa isnt French btw...but the rest of their lyrics are) but the story through the videos seems pretty much obvious. at least for the first half of this album, it seems to follow a Woman who has some kinda of torrid relationship with a priest (one who evidently should not be having any relationships with Woman) She eventually leaves. I once had a french speaker translate, though how accurate she was I dare not say hahaha Mea Culpa, is Latin Culpa, as in culprit or perpatrator of a crime...so its something like "Im a criminal" LOL Roughly speaking it is claiming responsiblity for some wrong doing "my bad" would be an acurate Translation ive also heard "my fault" or "my guilt" where the latter means "I am guilty"

There follows a chant that paraphrases Revelation

Then begins the long meditation towards "Rivers of Belief"

Tyburn
03-31-2009, 06:59 PM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_eBhIPnyeI

Enigma part four, moves us through the meditation and into "Rivers of Belief" Viewed as a whole, this is the climax of the Album, rather then Sadness which though more famous, acts only as an introit if you like.

The rest of the Album is a set of reprisals from earlier tracks, including Sadness, Principles of Lust, Mea Culpa and a second rendition of Rivers
