you know , a few years ago i had a fella come up to me and ask if i wanted to buy a dodge 6 pack motor. I just laughed thinking " Yeah , cause those are everywhere" figured he was full of it , he looked like he hadnt seen a bath since about 78 and was stoned out of his mind . Well a few months went by and i got curious so i went to the adress he gave me . Out behind the house in an old tool shed i found him working on a harley , firing on a j and having a reall good time lol. I told him i was there to see the motor and he just points to the corner , and there sat a 1970 dodge 440 6 pack motor , COMPLETE from a 70 challenger. I asked how much and he said 500 bucks . I damn near ripped my pockets off trying to get the money out . Since the intake was a 1 year only cast iron , i sold the intake and carbs seperate from the rest of the engine . The long block went to colorado for right around 2 grand , the intake and carbs went to florida for 2200 if i remember right.

Deals like that dont come along often, my Dad was Chief Stewart at Chrysler for 20 plus years in Fenton the cars that came off the line in the late 60's and early 70's was something to drive, the power these machines had was incredable. The Chargers, Roadrunners, Challangers, and who can forget the Hemi Cuda's the list go's on and on. It is a shame that was when the big three car companys was the very best in the world I just wish they had that respect today, who knows where this country would be today.:punch::punch::punch:

I wasnt around then , would have liked to of seen it all go down first hand.

Back when i first started ebaying i came across some pretty good finds but to be honest , alot of it has dried up because of ebay .

Once came across an old drag racing parts stash , it included a 392 hemi with zoomie headers still attatched to the heads , hilborn barn door injection , donovan clutch can , mickey thompson blower intake for the hemi which had never even been bolted on . Think i bought the whole lot for 250 bucks.

Bought this 57 a few years ago for me and my wifes wedding anniversary . Just the way you see it i paid 3000 for it . It was a 4 door hardtop with all new int and paint , 283 and a powerglide . Then someone offered us more money than we had thought it was worth for it and sent it down the road for $8000.00 and never did anything to the car except replace the heads and put gas and oil in it . An elderly couple down in greay summit missouri have it and still drive it to this day , they absoultey fell in love with it . Its the green one in this picture , the red one was my 57 2 door hardtop with 80,000 original miles . But thats a whole nother story.

Ok , ill quit stinking up the video thread with car stuff lol.

Its Called Lamentations of Jerimiah, and it actually IS quotations in Latin of the Scripture Written by Jerimiah during the distruction of The Temple of Jerusalem, a building he sincerely loved and was dearly attached to :unsure-1:

Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.

Remember the place
Oh wonderful day
The moment our fate was revealed

Through my eyes you can see
All the love within me

Oh all that i have
My soul i will give

I know i believe
Your my reason to live

Colours are fading
Lost in the dark
Tears of blood staining
Snow freezing my heart

Now i am leaving
My world is nomore
My love my all
Into your arms i fall
Your my reason

Take me away
I'll go where you are
I'll follow my heart to the end

With the pain far behind
Where you'll sleep i'll fly

Oh take me away
My life i will give
All that ´ have
Was for you my reason

I have waited long for you to come back home
to hear you call my name again
in my heart's deep soul you've not changed at all
and the years have passed you by
your sweet lips that lingered on my skin
i can feel their heat again
and your eyes that thrilled with passion's fire
they watch my every whim

some say my love, sweet love was lost
while crossing the raging main
or perhaps he has gone with some other girl
I might never see his face again
but if my irish love is lost he's the one I do adore
and for seven long years i'll wait for him
on the banks of the moorlough shore

he said farewell to castles grand
farewell to the foggy hills
where the linen waves like bleaching silk
and the falling stream runs still
near there we spent our joyful days but alas they are all gone
for cruelty has banished him
far away from the moorlough shore

I must have left my house at eight, because I always do
My train, I'm certain, left the station just when it was due
I must have read the morning paper going into town
And having gotten through the editorial, no doubt I must have frowned
I must have made my desk around a quarter after nine
With letters to be read, and heaps of papers waiting to be signed
I must have gone to lunch at half past twelve or so
The usual place, the usual bunch
And still on top of this I'm pretty sure it must have rained
The day before you came

I must have lit my seventh cigarette at half past two
And at the time I never even noticed I was blue
I must have kept on dragging through the business of the day
Without really knowing anything, I hid a part of me away
At five I must have left, there's no exception to the rule
A matter of routine, I've done it ever since I finished school
The train back home again
Undoubtedly I must have read the evening paper then
Oh yes, I'm sure my life was well within its usual frame
The day before you came

I must have opened my front door at eight o'clock or so
And stopped along the way to buy some Chinese food to go
I'm sure I had my dinner watching something on TV
There's not, I think, a single episode of Dallas that I didn't see
I must have gone to bed around a quarter after ten
I need a lot of sleep, and so I like to be in bed by then
I must have read a while
The latest one by Marilyn French or something in that style
It's funny, but I had no sense of living without aim
The day before you came

And turning out the light I must have yawned and cuddled up for yet another night
And rattling on the roof I must have heard the sound of rain
The day before you came

The earth is full of anger,
The seas are dark with wrath,
The Nations in their harness
Go up against our path:
Ere yet we loose the legions --
Ere yet we draw the blade,
Jehovah of the Thunders,
Lord God of Battles, aid!

High lust and froward bearing,
Proud heart, rebellious brow --
Deaf ear and soul uncaring,
We seek Thy mercy now!
The sinner that forswore Thee,
The fool that passed Thee by,
Our times are known before Thee --
Lord, grant us strength to die!

For those who kneel beside us
At altars not Thine own,
Who lack the lights that guide us,
Lord, let their faith atone.
If wrong we did to call them,
By honour bound they came;
Let not Thy Wrath befall them,
But deal to us the blame.

From panic, pride, and terror,
Revenge that knows no rein,
Light haste and lawless error,
Protect us yet again.
Cloak Thou our undeserving,
Make firm the shuddering breath,
In silence and unswerving
To taste Thy lesser death!

Ah, Mary pierced with sorrow,
Remember, reach and save
The soul that comes to-morrow
Before the God that gave!
Since each was born of woman,
For each at utter need --
True comrade and true foeman --
Madonna, intercede!

E'en now their vanguard gathers,
E'en now we face the fray --
As Thou didst help our fathers,
Help Thou our host to-day!
Fulfilled of signs and wonders,
In life, in death made clear --
Jehovah of the Thunders,
Lord God of Battles, hear!

God on high
Hear my prayer
In my need
You have always been there

He is young
He's afraid
Let him rest
Heaven blessed.
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.

He's like the son I might have known
If God had granted me a son.
The summers die
One by one
How soon they fly
On and on
And I am old
And will be gone.

Bring him peace
Bring him joy
He is young
He is only a boy

You can take
You can give
Let him be
Let him live
If I die, let me die
Let him live
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx7Y4QngqgQ

I think that all the lasting things are grey
the clouds above the mountains when it rains
when all around you changes these things stay

the lychen where the quarry works decay
the tides the fill the harbour in the stray
I think that all the lasting things are grey

the twilight in the quvm at close of day
the ash the coal fire leaves within the grate
when all around you changes these things stay

the mist that hides the slag heaps scars away
the winter rain that shines upon the slate
i think that all the lasting things are grey

the seagulls wheeling over Cardiff bay
the patient sea that bore a nations freight
when all around you changes these things stay

the homes we build with steel and stone today
and blend our light and darkness to create
i think that all the lasting things are grey
when all around you changes these things stay

:)

Its known as The Stabat Mater...its a lament based on Via Dolorosa from the Marian Perspective (this is the first section of the lament)

Tyburn
06-09-2010, 01:02 PM
Latin Lyrics

Stabat Mater dolorosa
Iuxta crucem lacrimosa
Dum pendebat Filius

Cuius animam gementem
Contristatam et dolentem
Pertransivit gladius

O quam tristis et afflicta
Fuit illa benedicta
Mater unigeniti!

Quae moerebat et dolebat,
Et tremebat cum videbat
Nati poenas incliti

English Translation (Its not a strict interpretation, because the Latin is poetry, and the English...well its more prose of the same...the Latin is more just the words (Mater for example doesnt appear in the second line of the latin...and Dolorosa is one single word for way of the cross. but you get the gist :) )

At the cross her station keeping,
Stood the mournful Mother weeping,
Close to Jesus to the last.

Through her heart, His sorrow sharing,
All His bitter anguish bearing,
Now at length the sword had pass'd.

Oh, how sad and sore distress'd
Was that Mother highly blest
Of the sole-begotten One!

Christ above in torment hangs;
She beneath beholds the pangs
Of her dying glorious Son.

What's with the bizarre music?!?

Well, that was pretty awful but the worst I saw was the Olympics in China when the weightlifter's arms broke outward at the elbows during a power lift. The Chinese immediately ran up with a blanket to block the camera.

Yeah, that's in my backyard. The top mark on the high throw is 20 feet. I've only made it over twice as part of the course run. I can usually do it when I'm just practicing but after getting to that part in the course, I usually miss it. The sled pull is the worst part of the course. That one just kills your legs.

There have been two memorial services in Saint Paul's Cathedral for the War in Iraq. The first was to commemorate victory in the initial invasion, it took place in the fall of 2003. The Second one took place in the fall of 2009 when the major British participation in Iraq was complete and Soverignty passed back to the people of the city of Basra. Below is a clip taken from the second service, including the Coronational Fanfare, which is played much to quickly, and the organ comes in much to late, but other then that, a good showing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms66M8MC0pc

Something Horrific that I have discovered from the video, if you look at the start of the anthem, you can clearly see the Dome Altar has been stripped! this saddens me greatly :'( I guess it was done to honour those who died. You NEVER strip an altar without good reason. The only time you should ever see an Altar in such a state is 1) if it has a freese on its front and is therefore never dressed, or rather, can never be undressed without vandalism 2) someone is in the act of changing the linen or frontal 3) its late on Good Friday, or Easter Saturday. Its akin to the Jewish King tearing his clothes out of woe...its not something intended, its something thats a response to something really tragic

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41adpYVhcCY

The news covered the event because the Church of England has NEVER been supportive of the War, like a referendum would have shown, the Populas did not back the Governments decision, and the Archbishop of Canterbury, apparently used his address to say as much, infront of Queen, and the Parliamentarians who authorised the decision.

Can you say...Awkward...for the Politicians and Soldiers who had to listen to it? The Church of England Famously refused to "Pray Fr Victory" over Iraq, stating that the Church doesnt do that sort of things with Wars, but this was the first time they ever stressed that. Even the Crucifix hanging in the pulpit behind him has been removed. Clearly, they are making a reference, to the absence of Christ in the conflict...thats why the Altars are stripped and during Lent often statues are removed or covered, its to symbolize their absense at a point where in Chronology it looked like Christ has failed. I am very suprised that Williams dared to do this. Whilst I may aggree with him in this instance, I have great disdain for the guy for most of the other things he does and says. He famously uttered that he didnt care about State Religion, and he famously uttered that many parts of Sharia Law pertaining to civil dissagreements should be implimented. Disgusting from someone in his office.

What IS strange though is the Cope that he is wearing, that is NOT one of ours, not unless they have had a new set made, which I doubt considering the fact the rest of Chapter is in the Reds that I recognise. WHY are they wearing Red. October the 9th is not a Major Feast Day....are they REALLY dressed in Red to signify Martyrdom??? Unbelievable!! It would be more customery to wear black, the Churchill Copes for example...Clearly this is a statement. The Church is blaming the Government for the loss of lives during the Iraqi Conflict, and they are BOLDLY stating this, from the Altar frontal (or lack there of...not even Red...but beyond red....absence of colour) to their Blood Red copes! Thats Harsh...I think far TOO Harsh for a Christian Memorial Service. Lets face it, regardless of what you think of the legitamcy of the war, it happened, and it happened a long time ago...what good does it do, after its all over, to make a fresh statement of condemnation...embarissing the service personnel, embarissing the Government...when you as a Church used political unbiasness as an excuse not to pray for victory in the first place. Thats Really Low!

David Fanshawe, the English composer, died last month apparently, he was most famous for his African Sanctus, which across the whole setting of a Latin Mass, juxtaposed the Roman Catholic Mass, against Tribal Worship of Native Africans. As well as being a Christian mass, it reflects an interesting interpretation of the history of evangelism througout Africa, often the Chruch Music is loud, abrasive, and dommineering over the African chants, one movement almost relates a call and response outline, thats very strange and hard to listen to actually

Two movements are the best known, the Sanctus itself, and his version of The Lords Prayer both below :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnPfEfSTcp8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIi31nmIMLU Its actually a beautiful setting of what is usually quite a boring prayer musically  by this time of course you are drawring the mass almost to a close, is it any wonder the African has been almost passified into an echoing operatic voice...where once it was strangely wild and at odds, now it seems to have fallen in line

I dont quite know what Fanshawe was actually trying to show in this setting

A video I did to Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" of my oldest Daughter Abigail through the years. I used to rock her in my chair & sing this song to her when she was sleepy or scared when she was little. Sometimes she still gets me to sing it to her. My favorite picture is at the very end of the video.

Part One of John Taverners: Fall and Ressurection

It charts Creation up to The Fall of Eden

What I love most about this...and I tell you now, I hate most of John Taverner because his music is largely based on disonence and horrible harmonic discordance...but what I love best about this piece is from 11.30-12.30 You hear a Horn like Trumpet over the top of the din, something I think he is using to refer to Angelic Proclaimations, since it occures again at the Incarnation, in this first instance to signify the war cry against the Heavenly Rebellion. Its an outstanding touch

Oh wonderful day
The moment our fate was revealed

Through my eyes you can see
All the love within me

Oh all that i have
My soul i will give

I know i believe
Your my reason to live

Colours are fading
Lost in the dark
Tears of blood staining
Snow freezing my heart

Now i am leaving
My world is nomore
My love my all
Into your arms i fall
Your my reason

Take me away
I'll go where you are
I'll follow my heart to the end

With the pain far behind
Where you'll sleep i'll fly

Oh take me away
My life i will give
All that ´ have
Was for you my reason

This is the most haunting setting of the Kyrie I know, the introduction is one of my favourite bits of music

I wont comment on the singer...except to say he has a tendancy to go flat

Its a very sombre piece because it happens right after something that doesnt really belong in a Christian Mass at all, but is VERY perternant to some of the more recent major wars.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dw3kRv6SVN0 there was some very uneasy people who heard this sung in Ripon Cathedral afew years ago...the laugh of it is, of course, that all conqured countries with churches would have been adapted for this very piece.

Almighty Father, who dost give
The gift of life to all who live,
Look down on all earth’s sin and strife,
And lift us to a nobler life.

Lift up our hearts, O King of kings,
To brighter hopes and kindlier things;
To visions of a larger good,
And holier dreams of brotherhood.

Thy world is weary of its pain;
Of selfish greed and fruitless gain;
Of tarnished honor, falsely strong,
And all its ancient deeds of wrong.

Hear Thou the prayer Thy servants pray,
Uprising from all lands today,
And o’er the vanquished powers of sin,
O bring Thy great salvation in.

Despite being called "The Host of Seraphim" its not a religious piece of music..instead its a clever play on the word for the use of this video which focuses on Stars which are nuclear reactors...Seraphim in the original Hebrew is a discription as much as it is a classification of Angelic Being. OK, so here's a clip of Betty White on Conan OBrien. Normally that's a recipe for hilarity & it is in this case, too. What makes this video AMAZING though, is the epic video message at the end. :happy0198: :happy0198: :happy0198: :happy0198: :happy0198:

Sorry, Cath, just now seeing this post. I didn't see the fights, but I went and looked some pics up and I can see it.

Just a few of my favorites from Chael: :rotfl:

"If I say something in a very private manner that isn't intended for a certain audience, come on, you can't hold that against me me.

I pick my medium very carefully when I talk about Brazil. I went to the internet. And if I had the foggiest idea that they had computers in Brazil, I wouldn't have done that."

"Well, I don't do trash talk'n at least in my estimation. Perhaps I don't know the definition of it. I feel like I'm just talk'n."

"Listen Wandelei, I will do a home invasion on you."

quite possibly three of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed to listen to as we head away from Lent and into Passiontide

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyFkPd6fEuI (The Cherubical Hymn from the Russian Orthodox Church akin to a Roman/Protestant Setting of The Sanctus)

Lyrics

"Holy, Holy, Holy, GOD of Power and Might. Heaven and Earth are full of your Glory. Hossanna in the Highest"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSe35HZpZls (Lament of The Mother of GOD, an Orthodox Lentan Literny akin to the Roman Stabat Mater, the pitch and volume of each Stanza is higher and louder)

Lyrics

Woe is me, my Child!
I see Thee, dearest and beloved Child,
hanging upon the cross,
and my heart is bitterly wounded.
But in Thy love, speak some word to Thy handmaiden.

Woe is me, my Child!
I wish to take my son down from the wood
and to hold Him in my arms
as once I held Him when He was a little child;
But alas, there is no-one to give Him to me.

Woe is me, my Child!
I see Thee bruised and wounded,
without glory, stripped upon the cross.
O my Child, and my heart burns.

Woe is me, my Child!
In my arms, I hold Thee as a corpse,
O loving Lord, who has brought the dead back to life;
Grievously is my heart wounded,
and I long to die with Thee,
for I cannot bear to look upon Thee lifeless and without breath.

Woe is me, my Child!
I reflect, O Master: how never again shall I hear Thy voice.
Never again shall Thy handmaiden see the beauty of Thy face
as in the past, for Thou, my Son,
hast sunk down before mine eyes.

Woe is me, my child!
Where dost thou go, my Child?
Why dost thou run so swiftly?
Is there another wedding in Cana,
and are thou hastening there to turn the water into wine?
Shall I go with thee, my child,
or shall I wait for thee?
Speak some word to me, O Word;
Do not pass me by in silence.
Thou hast preserved my virginity,
and thou art my Son and God.

Woe is me, my child!
Release me from agony
and take me with Thee, O my Son and God.
Let me also descend with Thee, O Master, into Hell.
Leave me not to live alone,
for I cannot bear to look upon Thee, my sweet Light.

Woe is me, my child!
Dost thou change my grief to gladness by Thy Resurrection?

Rise, O God, and judge the Earth!
Rise, O God, and judge the Earth!

Woe is me, my Child.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7ch7uottHU (And finally a Advent antaphone, which has been stolen by the protestants. O Magnum Mystirium, The Great Mystery...actually can be applied as much to the Ressurection as the Incarnation, its much like the Lux Amerique)

Lyrics

O great mystery,
and wonderful sacrament,
that animals should see the new-born Lord,
lying in a manger!
Blessed is the Virgin whose womb
was worthy to bear
Christ the Lord.
Alleluia!

last year Saint Paul's Cathedral celebrated 300 years of the present Building, they had a service which HM The Queen attended...I dont know what the law is regarding the Lord Mayors costume. The Lord Mayor is a different person each year...and it appears different Mayors wear different garb. For example, at the Golden Jubilee, the Lord Mayor wore a Red cape with a white fluffy hood. This Lord Mayor is wearing Black with Gold...its fabulous!

...and WTF happened to the Lord Mayor on the way out :scared0015:

...Its a funny thing, usually the order of the procession has the highest person at the back of it...but there is a little clause that IF the actual celebration is specifically about the CATHEDRAL, and not so much about the Diocise...the Whole of Chapter suddenly Trump the Bishop...soooo on the way OUT as this was a celebration of the building itself, the Lord Mayor is probably at THE FRONT symbolising London in a political sence, and the Lord Bishop is next because he symbolizes the diocise...but as the nature of the ceremony is the building not the diocise, these are FOLLOWED by Dean and Chapter.

Usually Dean and chapter go first as the cathedral is less important then London as a poltical or religious institution...although there is always some issues over who trumps who in terms of the Bishop and the Mayor. When the Bishop is present, he is Last, UNLESS there is a Royal Presence, then the Mayor is last...if the Bishop isnt present, then the poor Mayor seems to be shoved all over the place, sometimes he's ahead of dean and chapter, sometimes he's between the chapter and the Dean...and on the way out, sometimes he is last...who can tell.

I'm still confused though...because as there was a Royal Presence...surely the Lord Mayor should have been AFTER Dean and BEFOR Monarch....second to last...and not first...or non existant in the procession at all...Something went wrong because I dont see the Lord Mayor at all...and worse, the Dean seems to have taken it upon himself to do the Lord Mayors function at the West End...baffled as to what became of a very important ceremonial figure indeed!

I didn't care for the feathery bits all around his hat; it seemed a bit frilly with his elegant cape. Less is more...

The Queen looked nice in her blue, and she does wear tasteful hats. :)
