:unsure-1: oh...okay...well I liked it.
do you just not really like organ music :huh:It depends. I mean, I love hearing the old hymns on an old pipe organ. I think the biggest detractor for me on this piece was the separation between the notes. The Star Spangled Banner is not a march & shouldn't be played so marcato. It's a smooth, beautiful love song written for our country as it was being attacked (written by a captured Francis Scott Keys on the deck of a British warship as it bombarded the Fort at West Point during the War of 1812).

Yes it was played like a processional. He has artistic liscence because its an improvization. He's not actually playing The Star Spangled Banner...he's incorperating its motif into a magnificent work of art. Its kinda like what you'd expect to be playing on the Organ of Saint Paul's Cathedral as the Procession leads out after the Thanksgiving day service for the American Community in London. They parade down the nave with Standards...you cant do that to a love song without making it a march in exactly the same way you would make The Battle Hymn of the Republic. Now I've heard that one sung like a love song, and its repulsive...its like a durge, and makes the singer sound drunk, if its not performed as a proper regimental march.
I guess, I just thought you'd like it because of what its based on :unsure-1:

I hate it when people try to take "artistic license" with the Banner. It's not supposed to be improvised or embellished. it's not about the performer & their capabilities. The point is to draw attention to the words and (more importantly) to the nation. Whenever a singer starts throwing in arpegios & vibrado & stuff, it always tends to piss me off.
I guess, I just thought you'd like it because of what its based on :unsure-1:It's because I love the piece so much that I dislike the amendments. The organist is very skilled & I would normally have been impressed, but I personally don't like people messing with the Star Spangled Banner.

Basic Angelology :)
The Choirs are a theological construct, so they arent set in stone, and most of the theological ideology comes from the Apokrapha sinse there is only a passing mention of Angels here and there in Scripture. The Highest order of Angels do nothing but Worship. They generally are permanent residents in Heaven. These are the Host who probably do the stuff you read about in Revelation, or they become GODs entourage when in the Old Testament he actually appears. Seraphs and Cherubs...Possibly the most famous Seraphim is Lucifer, and the most famous Cherub is the Guard who was put at the entrance to Eden to gaurd the Tree of Life after the Fall.
Thrones are Angels that GOD uses in creation, the likely hood is that there are many thrones, its likely that each Pregnant woman for example has come into contact with a Throne, without knowing it. These are the least likely type to ever take on a form because they are more of a creative substance then an actual humanoid-creature with wings. Dominions are much the same
So two Choirs for Worship and Two Choirs for Creation.
Virtues are an odd ball, Virtues are abit like personifications. The Scriptures often personifies good characteristics, Humility, Wisdom. Virtues probably look after spiritual fruit and gifts, if they exist at all. I'm not completely convinced this choir even exists, but it is possible that these are the Host that whisper into your thoughts...you know when you think its yourself talking, and its not...Though again, I think that is generally the role of the messenger class. Virtues are an odd-ball
Powers and Principalities. These are Host which fight. These specifically are the Warrior Class you might say. They generally lurk around insitutions, and around Governments and stuff like that. When the Book of Revelation details Christ writing to the Angels of an appointed Church, its likely that its intended for an Angel of this Class
Archangels, this Choir is a pick and mix. Its not a type of Angel, its a Title. An Angel in leadership...so for Example we know that Saint Michael is an archangel...but he's also a Seraphim...there are only a few Archangels, and they probably rule over the other Choirs...for example as Michael is said to be the Host incharge of the Forces of Light, he Probably is incharge of the Powers and Principalities...more then he would be over those who just Worship...or those who create. Michael Fights...or more aptly, Wrestles infact...but thats a different story
Below that are the Angels who look after individuals and transport messages around. When Paul says that people have entertained Angels unknowingly...its probably from this messenger class.
Took you longer to read that then watch the video didnt it hahahahaha

I am really impressed by this. The Track is conducted full tempo, and considering its the most difficult track of the whole performance, it was done REALLY well. If anything lacks it is the Chorus. You dont seem to hear the lower harmonies, the upper register is too weak on the bridge, and the whole thing is not repeated as it was written. But the Orchestra, in particular the brass is OUTSTANDING!
Lets see how they fared on the tricky finale....not quite as good I dont think....The woodwind section IS playing the scales at nigh on full speed, but the diction, and clarity is not anywhere near as good as the Brass section.

The Procession into the Cathedral Commences, this is a perfect example of Saint Paul's Cathedral at it very finest :)
Preachers Verger
Acolytes and Crucifer
Canterbury Cross
Canterbury
Deans Verger
Cathedral Registrar (Major General John Milne) and Cathedral Lawyer
Chaplian and Warden of the College of Minor Canons (acting as Master of Ceremonies)
(The Royals are bowed in by the proceeding part of the procession, Minus the Dioscian Lawyer who also takes a seat in the Quire before the Royals are bowed in. After which a new Verger leads the Lord Mayor infront of Chapter into the Quire (notice the Lord Mayor has just swapped places half way through the procession) Also, the Virger that leads Chapter into the Quire is NOT the Deans Virger, he leads the Dean to the Pulpit...so two Extra Vergers appear for the bow in )
Lay Canon
Canon Treasurer and Canon Chancellor (acting as Canon in Residence)
Canon Precentor and Canon Theologia (the last Canon of that Title on Chapter)
The Dean of Saint Paul's
Diosician Lawyer (I think, but I'm not certian, he is the Mayors Beadle, I think he carries the mace, He had it when they arrived, but I cant see clearly if he is carrying it in the procession, I dont think he is)
Canons Virger
London
The Minor Canon and Sacrist (Acting as Bishops Chaplian)
Some kind of Military Guard
The Lord Mayor of London
Royal Wandsmen
Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinborough
Princess Ann and Prince Charles

Thank You

If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
If the mountains should crumble to the sea, there would still be you and me.
Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more.
Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by.
But my love is strong, with you there is no wrong,
together we shall go until we die. My, my, my.
Inspiration's what you are to me, inspiration, look... see.
And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles,
Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one.
Happiness, no more be sad, happiness....I'm glad.
If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
If the mountains should crumble to the sea, there would still be you and me.

Dave that was pretty good. :)
I really liked your beginning with the train and the music you chose for that. Also, the "silent" movie parts with Martin were neat. Good job!

This reminds me of the sort of introduction that could be used for the meditation on the last words, which takes place sorta sandwhiched between the Good Friday Literny in the Morning, and the Adoration that happens after 3pm.

Convertere ad Dominum Deum tuum

Effesum est in terra ie cur meum

The Video spends the closing refrain focused on the only part of the most recent Temple to still Exist, its called "The Wailing Wall" sinse that is what the Jews spend most of their time doing infront of it. They tend to write prayers and stuff them through the cracks in the stone. Of course this precious Jewish landmark is almost directly in the Shadow of the Islamic Dome of the Rock which you can see the close proximity from the end of the video

I thought this was an incredibly beautiful and bittersweet piece of storytelling and art. It is over 8 minutes long but well worth viewing, in my opinion. The YouTube link is at the bottom.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/tvandradioblog/2009/aug/13/ukranian-sand-artist
Ukraine's Got Talent? This much we already knew. There's Mikhail Bulgakov, Olga Kurylenko and the Klitschko brothers. We can now add Kseniya Simonova to that list who has won the Ukrainian version of Britain's Got Talent with sand animation. Yes, you heard right. She tells stories through sand.
Here, she recounts Germany conquering Ukraine in the second world war. She brings calm, then conflict. A couple on a bench become a woman's face; a peaceful walkway becomes a conflagration; a weeping widow morphs into an obelisk for an unknown soldier. Simonova looks like some vengeful Old Testament deity as she destroys then recreates her scenes - with deft strokes, sprinkles and sweeps she keeps the narrative going. She moves the judges to tears as she subtitles the final scene "you are always near".

well i bought them for you
Graceless Lady
you know who I am
you know I cant let you
just slide through my hands
and wild horses couldnt drag me away
I watched you suffer
a dull aching pain
and now you've decided
to show me the same
no sweeping Exits
no offstage lines
could make me feel bitter
or treat you unkind
and wild horses couldnt drag me away
I know ive dreamt you
a sin and a lie
and I have my freedom
but I dont have much time
fate has been suffered
and tears must be cried
so lets do some living
after we die
and wild horses couldnt drag me away.

Brilliant rendition of a favourite piece of mine...but the Conductor is strange...he's conducting WAY ahead of what the orchestra is playing...its very peculiar...Ive never seen someone beat time nearly like half a bar ahead of whats being played...he introduces sections by way of pointing to them who seconds before they are due to come in...no wonder he's having to count outloud...he's beating must be out of sync with the actual piece

I tried to live without you
What a misery it turned out to be
Sorry for the time I doubted you
Can't seem to get nowhere 'less you're next to me
And everyday I wonder what it would be like
Just to see the one who's always be my side
Lookin out for you and I
I do my best to do right got to get to the way up high
Oh my lord, I can't wait to meetchu
Love the life I'm livin though I'm looking forward to the day I die
Oh my lord, I can't wait to meetchu
So glad to have a love that's true
And I wanna thank you now for seeing me through
I'll never be the fool to go astray
Gonna stick with you always
And every day I wonder what it would be like
Just to see one who's always be my side
Lookin out for you and I
I do my best to do right got to get to the way up high
Oh my lord, I can't wait to meetchu
Love the life I'm livin though I'm looking forward to the day I die
Oh my lord, I can't wait to meetchu
I'll never be enough to give what you give me
But I could sing my heart out for you and tell everybody
All that he asks of us is only to believe
Dissapear your low low lows and your woe woe woes
Just like that, it's nature fact
I can't wait'til he gets back
I do my best to do right got to get to the way up high

Speed kills, those cars was the best, My brother had a Charger with a 440 six pack one of the fastest production cars I ever rode in, nice video thanks for sharing Mac.:cool::cool:
you know , a few years ago i had a fella come up to me and ask if i wanted to buy a dodge 6 pack motor. I just laughed thinking " Yeah , cause those are everywhere" figured he was full of it , he looked like he hadnt seen a bath since about 78 and was stoned out of his mind . Well a few months went by and i got curious so i went to the adress he gave me . Out behind the house in an old tool shed i found him working on a harley , firing on a j and having a reall good time lol. I told him i was there to see the motor and he just points to the corner , and there sat a 1970 dodge 440 6 pack motor , COMPLETE from a 70 challenger. I asked how much and he said 500 bucks . I damn near ripped my pockets off trying to get the money out . Since the intake was a 1 year only cast iron , i sold the intake and carbs seperate from the rest of the engine . The long block went to colorado for right around 2 grand , the intake and carbs went to florida for 2200 if i remember right.
