Okay, I did not update the bracket yet...yadda, yadda, yadda, I've been busy...

The match-ups for Round 3 are EASY....

Pink Floyd vs Guns 'N' Roses

and

Led Zeppelin vs Van Halen

Voting goes for 1 week, and don't worry if YOUR band was eliminated, because we will be bringing bands back to challenge the champion every couple weeks.

I call foul, how did Metallica lose? How did Halen with 3 lead singers recycled even be a contender?

Quit complaining and just vote.

Or, go back to the thread from round 1 and read the OP. Had we bickered over WHO should be in the competition, we would have just went in circles. I used the top 16 groups from VH1's list of 20 greatest bands to make the bracket and from there I matched them up in a normal tournament style setup. Lowest seeds facing the highest seeds according to their place on the list.

Hey, my pick to win is not in the finals, but I don't care, and I organized this madness

I think it will be interesting to see how the winner ends up matching up against other bands that did not even make the list.

At least you could have picked a lead singer, I bet if you did you would have cut their votes by half thus cause a huge rift in the brackets. Typical conspiracy in Chicago politics I tell ya...:frantics:

Well, Van Halen is still Van Halen. Why would I pick Haggar anyway? Most of their biggest hits were with David Lee Roth. For that matter, Metallica is largely considered of having two sets of sounds, the old and the new. So how I would pick between those? It's all Metallica, and it's all Van Halen. Neither one of them are in THIS round, so it don't matter.

Now VOTE, you can do it Log, I know you can! :tongue0011:

Metallicas second sound was a cheap attempt at trying to by more mainstream and marketable, I thought they left that sound and went back more towards their roots. But nothing beat their old stuf..

Besides you can't compare a bands poor choice of sound vs a band changing lead singers 3 times, then changing between the 3 lead singers throughout the years. Who knows maybe mentioning Roth from the beginning would not have mattered, then again maybe that 1 Hager fan would have been mad and not voted.

A bunch of people have NOT voted, hahaha, are you that ONE Hagar fan?!

On a serious note, I agree that Metallica's second sound did take a more mainstream approach, but as a GREAT guitarist once told me, "a good song is a good song". I personally think Metallica had some good stuff in their post-Black Album material. As Van Halen had some decent stuff with Hagar, I guess. It's all just for fun, and it's all just opinion. :)

Actually most of my favorite Metallica songs come from Load. I didn't seriously become a Metallica fan until that album came out. However, I disavowed all fan-worship of Metallica after that whole Napster thing.

I liked Load too, but there is no denying some of that old stuff. It really is killer. :)

I agree totally with your assertion about the Napster crap and Metallica's douchebaggery on the subject.
