After two full weeks on the road, Matt wanted to spend some quality time with the family. So, in between workouts yesterday, they all took a trip to the St. Louis Zoo. I was invited along to take some pictures and here are some of those:

The first stop was the stingray pool where people could pet the stingrays:

We spent a little bit of time with the giraffes:

There was a minor showdown between the lone ostrich in the pen and the two giraffes and it looked like the ostrich won by chasing them into the shelter:

The last place we visited was the tiger pen before Matt and I had to take off for the gym, this tiger did nothing but yawn the whole time we were there:

Joey spotted the alligator as we were leaving, so snapped a couple of shots for him on our way out:

Great pics Nate. The tiger ones were terrific even though he just yawned. Did Matt get hounded by the public while he was there?

did anyone there recognize Matt?

Quite a few people did actually. He signed at least one autograph while they were waiting for the carousel. A few times, we'd hear someone yelling his name out from a distance. Matt would just wave in the general direction and we'd keep moving on.

Everyone was completely respectful though. They understood that Matt was there to be with his family first and foremost and didn't hound him too much.

The ROCK just moved to the Charlottesville area after buying a plantation in a nearby town. It's just a farm with a bunch of acreage. He works out at a local gym and he's spotted everywhere. People are usually really respectful around here though. I realize these guys are people too, but they have to live a lot of life in the spotlight.

Once back when I worked at the SPCA, this lady came up to me while I was recovering some animals after their surgeries. She said, "Hi, I'm Sissy." It was Sissy Spacek, and she is one of the board members of my old workplace. Pretty cool. I've seen her around the mall too.

I think I've also run into John Grisham at the bookstore, no joke! He actually likes science fiction and comedy books.

Anyway, to echo goat, I'm happy they had a great time at the zoo. Nate you took some cool pics :)

Great pics nate! You should sell some of them to the Zoo. I doubt they've captured the animals that well.
Looks like Matt was all smiles with the family. Hanna definitely steals the spotlight when she's in the pics. LOL!
If this was just after feeding time the Tiger was probably digesting his meal. The morning is a great time to visit right after they open because the animals are usually pretty active. The bear pic is one of my favorites, but they're all good.
what, no Llamas?

I notice that the Sting Rays were never within reach of Matt. They recognize a superior predator when they see one! :ninja:

How come whenever I go to the zoo....:unsure-1:
the animals are always eating or getting a bath
and the cages are empty!!!!!

I dont have much luck with the zoo.....

And how come when I do go.....I dont see anyone like Matt walking around?:ninja:
And I'll be honest, I would have had to bother him for a picture!:ashamed:

But, he'd see that it was me, and he wouldnt mind:) ......he knows I have
a photo collection of our pics:wink:

I haven't visited the St.Louis zoo in about 2 years, but its always nice to take a stroll thru. I always enjoyed the bears, big cats and the snakes, though I really enjoyed the new gorilla section of the zoo.
I think out of all of that the sea lions are my favorites especially when they are getting fed. They are just so enjoyable to watch swim and have a good time.
