View Full Version : Inland Hurricane destroys my hometown

On Friday we had an inland hurricane I didn't even know such a thing existed. Well all doubt has passed after first hand experience. I was in the showroom of the dealership I work at. The roof of the showroom collapsed, signs blew down, the roof of the buildings across the street blew off. A trained weather spotter clocked the sustanined winds at 116 mph with gusts exceeding 130+ mph. Trees everywhere are down, several homes and business' destroyed, several injuries and deaths. Official for Ameren Electric says this is the worst damage he has ever saw. Curfew's have been put in place and arm guards stand at all gas stations trying to keep peace. Please Pray for this community.

Ben! :scared0011:

I'm glad you are ok. Did anybody get hurt? How's our house? :unsure-1:

I lost 8 trees at my house thankfully none hit my house. My uncle lost his garage and alot of his roof. I have power at my house but the majority of the county is out and is said to be out for a couple weeks. We opened the dealership today with only half of our employees just so we can assist people in the Body shop. I know of a ton of people who lost their homes completely or the business. It looks like a war zone between the Red Cross and police and power companies. The winds lasted for right at probably 20-25 minutes.

:scared0015: I've never heard of an inland hurricane either. Thats very strange. So basically, you had a gale of like 100mph winds for half an hour and your whole community got knocked down  Thats horrible!!! Is it normal for you guys to get Tornado? I thought you were a little far north for that...but that report says there was a Tornado!!

I'll add you to my prayer list!
