:happydancing: Woohoo, it's Earth Day!

So, what are we supposed to do?

I'm going to make sure to drive EVERYWHERE today so I can pump as much CO2 into the atmosphere as possible.

But of course, no Earth Day would be complete without the time-honored tradition of pouring used motor oil down a drain somewhere. :headbanger:

Don't forget to signal your committment by having all you friends and family turn all their lights on in the house until midnight and let their faucets run like mountain streams:w00t:

I'm going to e-mail your suggestions to Barack Obama and let him know it came from the Matt Hughes forum. I wonder if he remember responding to Matt's comments, lol

I'm gonna go rent a Hummer, crank up the A/C, and throw a bunch of old car batteries into the ocean.

I'll bet a few members go rent "An Inconvenient Truth"...:D

Instead of shutting my truck down every time I stopped, I bumped the idle speed up to 11,000 rpm's all day today. And I clubbed a baby seal.

Normally I do recycle plastic bottles; but today, in honor of Earth Day, I threw them all in the dumpster.:)

I am an actual tree hugger. (ok, so they pay me at work to hug the trees)

I handed out oak trees to all the employees that wanted some. Each employe could have 3 oak trees for free. And then i handed out a cloth reusable grocery bags to each employee.

my dorm today was asking every resident to join in for an hour (7-8) of turning the power off in order to promote earth day...I'm sorry, but I got an exam tomorrow, and my teams are playing tonight....So half the floor turned the surround sound on and all the lights haha

Honestly didn't do anything different. I put the aluminum cans in the recycler, put the plastic bottles in the recycler, kept the house at 78, left the lights off and opened the blinds. Also, drove my black SUV with the A/C cranked up (don't tell the California legislators!) to the gym and did leg day. And, I watched television.

I can't believe I missed this thread yesterday!:banghead:

I made sure I contacted a few of my "GO GREEN" friends and asked them, "What do you think is more important, the creation or the CREATOR?"

Boy, did I get some flak! It was well worth it though!

Do you look after it  are you absolutely sure of the age of the Tree  Are you sure that its old enough to make Acorns hahahahaha?

Are you certain its an oak tree....?

edit: sometimes it takes an Oak about 50 years to produce its first batch of acorns.....have you considered that your Oak might be a....slow starter hahahahahahaha Apparently they DONT stop producing Acorns

Perhaps its...having an identity crisis...or perhaps it just doesnt want to produce Acorns.

Is it ill? have you had it looked at by a tree surgeon?

What have you called Him?

I know of a couple who once had a house and a VERY old Oak in their yard. The oak appeared to be dead, it didnt really produce many leaves and certainly no acorns...so they did a terrible thing...they cut it down. Unbeknown to them, the Tree was draining gallons and gallons of water out of a clay based soil. When they chopped it down, they killed it, and the water table rose...the next year the foundations of the house came up due to subsidence, and the house fell down!! NEVER chop a tree down if its ANYWHERE NEAR a house before having it looked at by a Surgeon.

The trees were donated. We handed out over 1,000 trees. I got paid to sit in the sun, in a lawn chair and hand out trees. It is a terrible job, but someone has to do it. If you ever have seen ADM (my work), you would understand why they are handing out free trees.
