Right, i am going to be in Los Angeles from the 5th of July, to the 9th, so then on the 9th my and 5 friends go to Vegas and they return home on the 13th of July, i head back to Dallas, Texas.

So, was wondering...........

I have looked at Hard Rock, Bellagio and MGM, and to be fair, the prices arent bad at all. However are there other Hotels that would be worth looking at, location is key and we want to be at the heart and in a good hotel. Anyone know of any others?

Secondly, we are planning to perhaps book a apartment in Los Angeles, and then rent a car. I am told that there isnt a great deal to do in L.A.

However whislt i have only made a cursive look, does anyone have some good tips or know of good places to stay.

And any tips on what to see/to do?

Many thanks!

For others, i should be in San Fran 21st of June, still working on a NYC, Boston, Chigago trip in August i think. Arizona etc late June and Augusrt as well, i intend to do South Easterly, so Nashville, Lousiana, Carolina etc.

But im still in the process of this!

I would recommend the Bellagio personally. Stay away from the Luxor... is sucks as a hotel.

Let me know when you get your dates confirmed for the southeast. It'd be great to meet you. :)

What part of LA will you be in? I would be more than happy to help you. The last thing you need is to be somewhere in the Chinatown area!?!! :scared0011:

Well, we fly in to Los Angeles airport on the 5th of July and we leave the thursday, the 9th of July.

So we are gonna stay near the airport but we have little idea of what to do there.

I have been looking up luxury apartments, around the area as between six you can get a reasonable price, well cheaper than a hotela nd can get in groceries etc.

If i checked out some places could i run them past you as suitable places for 6 english fellas, who want to be close to where its happening!?

The Sahara is cheap as hell, and right on the strip.

To be honest you aren't going to be in your room too much,
so go with the cheapest room that is halfway decent.

Why not the Luxor?

We only stayed there one night but we hated it. It didn't smell very good, logistically is was just a nightmare... from the parking garage to the lobby then up the inclinator to our rooms... it was just a mess...

It did have nice bathrooms in the room and the tilted walls due to the shape of the hotel were a novel touch... but overall... we really didn't like it.

Right, so Value for money meant we plumped for the MGM Grand even though i wanted to go the extra and get the Bellagio!

Nevermind!

Still looking at L.A, i have ruled out Compton, Crenshaw and Florence but now looking for reasonable Hotels, in Laguna, Huntingdon, etc those sorta areas to be.

Having a bit of trouble really!

Stay away from Compton, Crenshaw and Florence. It's been years since I have been in L.A., but I remember enough to stay away from those areas. Some of the Beach Communities are nice.

Whew! It depends on what you want to do as to where you should stay. It's been too many years for me to give you any advice. Hollyweird was fun and eye-opening. Have a great trip.

Hollywood kicks all kinds of ass,
for one it smells like pee, and who doesn't like that?
You can also see real life criminals, crack addicts and pan handlers on almost every block. Give it a chance ;)
