View Full Version : Miesha Tate goes nuts on Twitter after Bellator downgrades Zoila Gurgel

From MMAFighting.com:

In late August, Bellator made a big deal about the return (http://www.mmamania.com/2012/8/28/3274922/zoila-gurgel-bellator-78-oct-26-dayton-ohio) of its women's champion, Zoila Gurgel (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/129644/zoila-frausto).

Turns out it may not be that big of a deal after all. That's because "The Warrior Princess" has been relegated to the un-televised portion (http://www.bellator.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=23600&ATCLID=205671422) of the Bellator 78 (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fight-card/103230/bellator-78) fight card, which goes down this Friday night (Oct. 26, 2012) from Wright State's Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio.

And that makes former Strikeforce (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/promotion/strikeforce) Women's champion Miesha Tate (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/130035/miesha-tate) mad (https://twitter.com/MieshaTate/with_replies):
"I cannot believe [Bellator] would allow [its] champion to be placed on the UN televised undercard in her hometown. A champion is a champion regardless if she is fighting up a weight, u use her image to promote the posters & then put her on the undercard?! Blows my mind. This is the 2nd time too you have done this I tell you what I would rather never fight MMA again then fight for u under @BellatorMMA banner.... The amount of disrespect you have given @ZoilaGurgel is disgusting."
Gurgel is likely being punished for her scathing remarks (http://www.mmamania.com/2012/5/23/3038656/zoila-gurgel-bellator-bjorn-rebney) about Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney, who "threw her under the bus" and "dissed her" earlier this year while she was stuck on the sidelines rehabbing a devastating knee injury.

You can read her beef right here (http://www.mmamania.com/2012/5/23/3038656/zoila-gurgel-bellator-bjorn-rebney).
To add insult to injury, Gurgel will have to fight the 4-2 Casey Noland (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/141741/casey-noland), who's coming off a loss in last year's Bellator debut. We're talking about a girl who has already beaten both Megumi Fujii (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/131287/megumi-fujii) and Jessica Aguilar (http://www.sbnation.com/mma/fighter/131139/jessica-aguilar) and is currently riding a six-fight win streak.
Certainly sounds fishy. But is anyone joining "Cupcake" in her anti-Bellator crusade?
