Well, Tuesday we went to the doctor and we are now sure that Audra is with child. They said the due date was January 9th. So I’m very excited and have been asking for another child since Hanna was born. All went well at the appointment and I’ll keep you all informed. Next thing, I want to thank all my fans and most importantly my forum members for the good times out in las Vegas. It was great to see a lot of you again and meet some of you for the first time. My next fight should be closer, I’m hoping it will be around St. Louis, and let’s hope we can do the same thing then. I caught this on the forum and then found out it was on some other forums as well. These statements never came out of my mouth:
As most of you know, I trained at Jeremy’s and up at Sean’s for this fight, I knew my wrestling was going to be better than Serra’s, so a gameplan with Fiore was never really talked about.
Not that I wouldn’t want to fight the winner between those two, but definitely never said that and I wouldn’t say anything like that without talking to DW first.
DW and I have not sat down and talked about anything yet. That statement is totally false. I don’t know where these quotes came from, but they are not the truth. I went back and watched the Rashad fight again, and I think it comes down to bad coaching. In the prefight press conference, I heard Rashad say that he didn’t bring anybody in who would resemble Machida’s style. When I heard that, I knew that there might be some problems. That is probably a big reason why Rashad didn’t do very well in the striking area. I also think Rashad should have been coached on using his wrestling talent. He didn’t shoot one takedown that I can remember and he just made it a sparring match. If I was to coach Rashad against Machida, I would have told him to make it a fight, use his wrestling and groundwork to really dictate the match. Not just go out and spar with him. I think Rashad could have done a lot better in that fight. I’m not saying he should have won, but he’s a lot better than he showed on Saturday. I’ve got one extra, so I might do some type of giveaway with it, but I haven’t decided yet:  Tomorrow, I leave for a quick family vacation and I won’t be around on Monday for a blog. Congratulations on the baby matt! im really happy for you and Audra. What are your actual thoughts on taking on gsp or alves? And let me just say, im wishing robbie the best of luck on his fight. i wish i could see him fight, hes got so much talent!

Congrats on the great news!!! My wife and I are in the baby making business but no luck yet. I’m curious about what you think about Frank Trigg being back in the UFC. I personally don’t get it he’s a lousy fighter (at least against top competition), talks some MAJOR trash which some is ok but he gets personal. I think Robbie Lawler should be back in the UFC waaaay before Trigg. But oh well. Anyway congrats on all.

Congrats to you and Audra on the New addition. i just have to say that whoever put that you said that stuff is wrong. i Know that everyone here knows that you would not say those things that soon after a fight. I had heard that, but it was never confirmed on here, but know that it is CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is awesome.. I diffinitley think you should do something with that banner that would look great with all of the rest of the UFC and hunting stuff I have in the basement… You could just sell it to the HILLSBORO native and call it a day but hey thats just me….. Great fight Saturday can’t wait till the next one……..

Matt, Congrats on the new baby that’s awesome. I hope Robbie wins his fight, I wish he would come back to the ufc. Frank Trigg and Matt Serra would be a good fight, I would love to see who could say the most things that make no sense at all. I think it would be awesome to give your banner to a fan, of course I’m thinking ME being the favorite to deserve the banner but I would be willing to compete for it somehow. i thought hughes fight with serra a draw i came into the fight with a strong dislike for matt hughes but i must say you showed a lot of class after that fight with serra and im gald u guys deaded the bad blood i think serra was just mad the way u disrespected royce gracie maybe jus a little bit u gotta tell dana to get your boy lawler back in the ufc i think he would do damage at 170 or 185 as for your next fight hughes i would like to see you slap KOS around a little bit -im from long island and u earned my respect and im sure u earned my boy serras respect

Hey Matt congratulations I had a lot of respect for Serra after the fight he has more class than i thought. I am actually a bit of a fan of his now. It was great for the sport the way you guys acted after the match. I really can’t stand Greasy GSP though but that’s another story. Hope everything goes well with you and your wife with the baby on the way and congratulations on that as well!!! June 6th is coming up so let’s go Robbie and why doesnt he come back to the ufc hell trigg found his way back.

Matt – Congrats on the win and on your soon to be new addition to the family. My wife and I also just found our recently that we are due again. Dec 25th to be exact. This will make our 2nd also. As a family man I know you are excited and I wish you and your wife all the best. As far as the fight, well I am just so happy that you won. You looked great, you can definately tell you worked your tail off. I am also glad to hear that you will be fighting some more because the sport wouldn’t be the same without you. Congrats! Thats awesome news! Hope all is well! Great fight on Saturday!! I think I put finger nail marks in my husbands arm when you got headbutted, I was a little nervous, but I knew that you would pull through, like I said its that Libra thing that you do,(I am also a 10/13/74- libra) all of us Libras think alike!!! Your fight with Serra was close. I have a lot of respect for both you and Serra for what was displayed at the end of the fight. Matt you are a class act for my boy and I. I am in law enforcement and respect your beliefs and everything you do. Keep up the good work and if you get the chance please e-mail me for my son and I. I hope you continue to fight in the UFC but if other options come about I will definility be ringside for you. If ypur next fight will be in the ST. Louis area count me in. I’m not sure what the deal is with fighters who have their backgrounds in wrestling but yet want to stand and bang like boxers…I understand expanding your skillset but if your strength is in one area you really should stick with it. I am sure Sean and Rashad wished they would have following their last fights. Kos also comes to mind. Anyway congrats on the pregnancy and the win…God bless! Petes

Hey Matt! Congrats on the new edition. My wife and I have 3 of our own – nothing tops that. Also, congrats on the win over Serra. I heard rumblings about the decision, so I watched for myself yesterday. Based on what I saw, there should be no questions about the decision. If you discount the headbutt followed by the shot to the back of the head (as you should) you won the first round. You dominated the action in Round 2. The only round that I might have given to him would be the third (just based on the takedown and submission attempts). I know its too early to say, but what’s next?

Hi, Matt. I 100% agree with you on Rashad’s loss, that it was Jackson’s fault for giving him such a poor game plan. Why stand with the guy who barely gets hit and has KO’d people like Rich Franklin??? I was really upset to see Rashad take so many punches like you said during your ringside interview.
Who do you think has a shot of beating up Lyoto? Shogun, Rampage, or Rashad in rematch? Neither doesn’t seem to have a great chance. Only Anderson Silva.
