I have cheered through your wins and saddened through your defeats but have always admired you as a man and fighter. I was nervous as could be when you stepped I’m the ring with the so called legend Royce Gracie. Man when the country boy, hunter, from illinois took it to him I was proud as a redneck from No. Cal. Could be. Matt show the East Coaster again that “Country Boys Can Survive”! From the hunting Wadlows in Ca. Good luck nest wishes and whack’em and stack’em brother!

I’m winded just from watching that but if you didn’t want to post much about your training (since I’m sure Serra has spies watching your blog) maybe you should have posted the video after you smash his face in? LOL So excited about the fights Saturday.

Go for the following 2 options, elbow him into unconciousness, or choke him into oblivion. Do not stand with him, but do not have any fear of him either. Absolutely and totally walk right through him like a caged beast. Let this fight be the fight that makes your name be remembered with fear for all time.

i so think hughes has this. if not i’m gonna need a new tv because i’m gonna kick the sh*t outta Serra via it. our house is gonna be standing room only for the fight…Serra haters get preferred seating…anyone who speaks out against Hughes gets the gitmo treatment (i block their car in or hide their keys and make them sleep on my hardwood floors).

Win or lose, I’m still a fan of yours. Being a champion in the UFC is just secondary to being a champion to your family and friends and in life- which you seem to be, and the reason I’m a big fan.

Of course, I hope you shut him up. And I believe you will.

Great job, Matt! Just watched you kick Sera’s butt! That scary headbutt in the first round made my heart stop for a second but you proved, once again, why you were and always will be a true champion. The heart to keep fighting and not just recover but dominate is what champions are made of. I’m a Police Officer and defensive tactics instructor in Colorado and have always admired heart in fighters. It’s th one thing you can’t teach and I think the main ting lacking in Sera.

Throughout all of the hype you never gave into playing Matt Serra’s trash talking game, way to take things like a man and still show respect to people who don’t give it to you, that’s the mark of a man living for something greater than himself. I was the first person to stand up and yell, which i was the loudest person at the sports bar, tonight. You’ve been such an encouragement in my own life to keep fighting for Christ and I thank you for being my greatest hero, i hope I can meet you some day. You won that fight decisively. In round 1, he caught you with a head butt and followed it up with a punch to the back of the head, so in my mind he did not hurt you legitimately. Round two is when you dominated him and roughed him up. Round three you had control until the last two minutes, so there can be no doubt that you were the winner.
As an aside, I don’t like the way Rogan calls your fights. He made it seem like Serra did something great in the first round, when all he did was head butt you. Also, when you are on top and punishing Serra (Just look at his face), Rogan makes it seem that you are somehow just lying on him and being in active.
Anyway, it was a great fight and I am real happy for you.

Great fight Mr. Hughes you had a great game plan for this fight, let serra ( I did not captailize for a reason) come in then you take him down, and you keep you away with your jab , you may have beat up on him like you have others, but I still feel as if you control almost the entire fight.I was a little worried after the headbutt, but when got him press up onto the cage I know that you were fine. I also felt that you showed a great deal of class after the fight, if the tables were turned he would have did the same. It made me laugh that serra was almost crying after the match, plus I was wondering if you think that his a future hall of famer, he made mention of it in the countdown show. If you don’t want to start the back and forth talk again feel free to not answer that question. This is the first time I have written on your wall, but I am big fan of yours and I hope you write another longer book. I think that you are great for the sport where as serra is not, he is a good enough figher he just needs to watch his language and know that he is a pro and needs to carry himself better.
