Just training…

Well, sorry for the late blog, but as you all know I’ve been busy. I know most of you are wanting to know how my training is going, but to be honest I really don’t want to say much about it. After the fight, I’ll talk more about the training, but all I can say now is that it’s going very well. With all of my training, I don’t have a whole lot to say so I thought I’d bring some things up from the past. Here’s a few things that maybe some of you have never seen before: That commercial even gave Nate the idea of me having my own breakfast cereal and here is the concept illustration that he made for that: ![]() There were also these commercials that I did for XYIENCE: XYIENCE UFN Promo (2006) When I’m travelling I always have my laptop with me and I’ve got tons of pictures on there and here are a few pictures that I look at frequently: This is from the day Hanna was born:
Joey’s first day at the big school (kindergarten):
Joey, Hanna and Brandon in the big bed. (When Hanna wants to sleep with us, she always says “I want to sleep in the big bed”): Audra and some of her friends at one of my fights (I can’t remember which one): Me and Matt Pena: Finally, I just like the message that this picture sends: Until next week… -matt | ||||||

Matt,
Glad to hear from you, I understand you are very busy so it’s nice you take tiime for us each week. Me and my son are soooooooooo looking forward to the ground and pound for Serra, he just doesn’t make sense when he talks so maybe you can knock some in him. If you make a cereal, I will buy your first box. I noticed you weren’t posting pictures of your training so I’m glad things are going well. I liked how you said on your interview on ufc.com about we are going to see the old Matt Hughes come out, if that happens I believe you can do what you put your mind too. Thanks for sharing the pictures. God Bless. John

Beautiful family pictures, Matt. I do the same with my pictures and it’s like reliving all the wonderful moments all over again. And here I thought we were the only ones that sent our kids to school with camoflauge backpacks! Better have a pink one ready for Hanna. Good luck, we’ll be cheering you on here in Kentucky!

Glad training is going good. I am still hoping to attend the fight. I have my tickets but may have to sell them. Depends on the playoffs and the swine flu.

Matt,
I just watched what the idiot said on his interview on ufc.com. Is he related to Trigg?? I think Trigg is smarter than him. Don’t take him lightly but ground his sorry little you know what in the ground. He has no clue who Matt Hughes is but he soon will find out!!!!!!!! It’s war!! Sorry, just had to vent.

I just want to wish you all the best in your upcoming fight against Serra. He is an accomplished fighter in certain areas, but I’m confident that you will prove to be the better fighter. Greetings from Sweden and godspeed, Matt.

Matt,
Your opponenet stated that you were hiding behind your religion. I wish he understood that our religion or better, our faith, helps us to stand out. It may be a conflict of interest, but I am viscerally hoping you beat the devil out of him so some religion can come in. Shut up the evil that spews forth from his pie hole. If he truly has insulted your wife, let vengeance be yours. I will pray for your victory over evil, and I will pray for him as well. He needs to see the light and be brought over from the dark side

I just watch some of your opponents video blog. He can’t talk without using foul language. He was talking about his own wife in a very negative way. He was telling his camera man about how his wife is somewhere else because she just had his kid, and that she would be nagging him about how he is taking care of there house. If he had any respect for her, he wouldn’t be talking about her like that in public. I really hope that your training is going well so you can prevail over this scumbag!!!

Almost go time I am getting nervous. Shut the yankee up all he does is run his mouth. Good luck with the rest of your training. I can’t wait to hear Hank and see you walk in the cage again. If you get him in a rear naked choke hold it a little longer for me will ya.

Hey Matt,
I want to say two things. First off, remember when David faced Golliath? Golliath was making fun of the Israelites and David was angered that the “uncircumsized Philistine” was blaspheming God. The reference to being “uncircumsized” meant that Golliath was not in covenant with the LORD. David knew it and fought him for the glory of God. Secondly; remember when Paul (who was known as Saul at the time) was on the way to Damascus and the Lord appeared to him and said, “Saul, why are you persecuting me?” Jesus equated Saul’s persecution of the church with persecution of Himself.
Having said that, and having listened to Matt Serra’s language, I would remind you that “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.”
Needless to say; I am praying that you will win this fight, and do so convincingly. Originally I wanted you to win because you’re my favorite fighter, now I’m doing it so that God will be glorified and will show Himself to be strong through His servant (that’s you).
Seeing the above videos (as well as others) has also placed a burden on my to be praying for Matt Serra’s salvation; that God would draw him to Himself and that Serra would be saved and radically changed into a child of God.

Hey Matt,
I’m a huge Matt Hughes fan. I’m taking Saturday night off and having friends over for the fight. Can you please enter the ring to “A Country Boy Can Survive.” Good Luck.

Uhm, Daniel… Matt always enters the cage to “A Country Boy Can Survive.”
But as a fellow fan of Matt Hughes, I’m glad you’ll be watching him.
Maybe someday, if the UFC ever comes back to Oklahoma, I’ll get a chance to see Matt in person, but until then I’ll gladly fork out any amount of cash to watch him on PPV, especially for this fight.
