Von Maur Appearance and UFC 82 Recap
March 4th, 2008
|
Last Saturday went up to the Von Maur in Chicago for a One More Round appearance, had a good turnout. Later that night was UFC 82, Heath Herring did a good job staying in the fight and winning the second and third rounds. Anderson Silva ended up winning the title fight, I think if Henderson was in shape he could have lasted longer. I don’t know why somebody would go into a title fight not in shape and ready to go five rounds. Anderson looked tough but once again I saw holes in his game. On Sunday, the weather was nice, so Mark and I got to go out and do some shooting. We brought out some bigger guns and shot 200 yards. It was a little windy so we ended up packing it up early, but we had a good time. One gun that I’m very impressed with is my .243 caliber Howa. It shoots real good for me, I did have to do a trigger job to lighten the trigger up a little bit, but it is a good shooting gun. I’ve got some buddies from Shelbyville that I’m going to probably use this gun to teach them how to shoot. Some photos from Sunday:
As we speak it’s snowing outside, so I’m hoping to get enough snowfall today to go out and play with my tractor. -matt |

Being that this is the first time ive really examined Dan Henderson I dont know if I aggree he was out/in shape. He didnt strike me immediately as being out of shape, i’ll have to review that.
My opinion: had he not put himself in danger from those knees he would probably have won in the later rounds. He made an error, and was violated via RNC for his trouble.
I do think you could take Silva. Its nice to hear that you see flaws/holes/weaknesses, to many people think that now Silva is unbeatable…no one is unbeatable…mindue, some are a damn lot closer then others….mentioning no names…er…Matt Hughes LOL
Glad you had a good signing tern out and had fun with your guns
Regards

I’m a new member on here, but I just had to reply to this…. I’m just curious as to what holes there are in his game??? His standup is world class, his jui jitsu seems to be very sound, and his grappling isn’t that bad… I mean, it’s been shown that he can be taken down, but nobody seems to be able to hurt him once he’s on the ground. Hendo is a STRONG guy and a great wrestler, and he wasn’t able to do any damage while on the ground…. Just curious.

Hey Matt,
I was just wondering what you guys shoot at? Do you have targets set up or what? Have you ever fired an M-4? Any word on your next fight? I actualy hope that Serra beats Georges again so that you could potentially get a crack at him. I was also wondering what your thoughts were on some of these up and coming organizations like the one that Robbie Lawler is with, but I understand if you aren’t allowed to discuss that.
Anyway… take care and God bless

Matt,
Please move up to 185 and take on Silva! I can’t see you getting another title shot anytime soon in the WW division, but if Dan can get a title shot after a loss I don’t see why you can’t. You’re in excellent shape right now, and performed great against royce at catch weight. Show us the holes in Silva’s game; he has cleared the middle weight division!

Matt,
Couple of questions for you:
1. Are you even considering moving up to 185?
2. Will you be going to the PK in Dallas, TX in August this year? If you are going I would like to meet you.
Take care and God bless,
Todd
