In between all the intense training sessions, there is still time for having some fun around the gym. Let’s just say that Matt’s not one to back away from a challenge.

Matt,
You are such a hard head, too funny. I am also not one to back down from a challenge. In highschool we had the 400 and 500 lb club for the “girls” in the school, I was in the 500 lb club, I squated 300 and benched 200, but I could never lift 100 lbs with just one arm. Be carefull that you don’t go hurting yourself though, you need to be at your best for the 29th.

Take care and good job for not backing down from a challenge, it shows the will and heart that you have.

what are you thinking matt, you could have very easily been injured in either one of those stunts, i as a man understand a challenge but what you have at stake and the ridicule you would recieve if you had to call the fight due to an unnecessary injury, wouldnt have been worth it, take care of yourself and please please be prepared for this fight with gsp, looking forward to you getting your belt back

One of gsp’s best weapons against takedown defense is his balance.
This shows your balance is equal to his, (your trainer, I think her name is ashley) really seems to have done her job and gotten you in great shape.
As long as you have a anser for GSP’s leg kicks you will win this fight.

to all of you he think these stunts are crazy -
i don’t think lifting one hundred pounds over your head with one arm is too difficult for hughes. I’m sure he’s pushing himself tens times harder in the weight room preparing for his fight. you have to put things in perspective. he’s a hardcore athlete, he’s done it before, he’s lifted weights his whole life… as for jumping on the dumbbells… if he falls, i don’t think he’s too worried about being able to catch his balance and land.

These aren’t that crazy, I went and did all 3 this evening in the gym. Nonetheless it does take balance, hip burst, strength and power.

All I kept thinking while you were jumping on the weights was… Christopher Reeve. Given your not jumping a horse, but you couldve slipped and ended up like Christopher Reeve!
