The Ultimate Fighter Finale and GodTube Video

   December 2nd, 2007

Had a great week at training, as you will see on the video that we will release this week. It’s ready, I just have to look it over and give final approval before we post it to the website.

Tuesday I leave for Vegas, I’ll train out there all week and then watch the Ultimate Fighter Finale live on Saturday night.

A friend told me to watch this video on GodTube and it really struck me and I wanted to share it with everyone I could.

Wow, this video is strong. Everybody out there watch the video, it’s worth it. We just saw the same video in the Church that my family and I go to and it made a really deep message for everyone, it’s just that great.

kyle Says:

YES!!! another video! the other one you posted was awsome. Ill have to check out Godtube

Conrad Says:

Interesting…

So once the actor jumped in the fray for her (as Christ did for His bride), *then* it made more sense, but up to that point….I didn’t know that God was so passive, inactive, ineffectual, just standing on the side waiting. The God I know is working in people’s lives, not just jumping in when it gets too bad.

CHITOWNHUGHESFAN Says:

WOW!! Powerful message…………Thanks for Posting it Matt!

pecker Says:

That really puts things in perspective. kinda black and white, at a time I really need it.
It is something I would not have found on my own.
Thank You so much Matt

Vid isnt working for me :(

Primadawn Says:

What a powerful video! Sometimes we need that picture of God interceding for us–to make us realize that we’re not doing this on our own! Thanks for linking it!

SoulEmbraced Says:

This skit was given as part of a Gospel presentation we gave last Friday at a teen outreach at our church up here in Springfield, IL. At that event, 45 teens committed their life to Christ and 30 rededicated! PTL. On Sunday during normal service, (yesterday), the Gospel was again presented, along with this skit. More knelt at the altar to give themselves to Christ.

Powerful stuff.

Erin Says:

I always feel like I have been in an awesome church service when you find something like this and share it.

Seedamin Says:

The message this week at the church my family attends revolved around the parable of The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). As part of this, they played the “Savin Me” video from Nickelback. I don’t have a direct link, but you can view the video on the Nickelback website (http://www.nickelback.com). Click on the video link to the right and choose “Savin Me”. I found to be a very moving video with a great message.

mxgirl212 Says:

WOW! That was so powerful!! Thank you for sharing that. We are so blessed that we have a Savior that can fight our battles for us.

Tucker4416 Says:

Matt, I’m not what you would call a religious person. I’d consider myself spiritual and I do believe in God. That video at first I thought was pretty cool, but when the actor portraying Jesus was trying to pull the girl away and then jumped in for her to be saved, I lost it brother. I broke down and cried almost uncontrolably. I don’t know what that says about where I am in life, but it did make me feel as someone is out there and does care about me.

Thank you.

Kelligh Says:

Matt,
The video that you posted reminded me of what I seen when I went to this water resort 2 years ago. There was a church group there that was doing skits exactly like that. The skits are so inspirational and definatly get you to see the point that they are trying to make and get you to see. Thanks for sharing that video with everyone, GOD BLESS.

Dear Brother Matt,

Thanx. I needed an extra dose of encouragement today. I pray you would have safe traveling mercies to Las Vegas. I pray He would bless you with the heart of a lion, the strength of Samson, and the endurance to finish the race.

God Bless You.

P.S. My 6 year old son had his first wrestling match this Saturday. He won his first match. It was probobly the most exciting three minutes of his life.

cool video. Im always kinda skeptical at first about Christian dramas because can be cheesy a lot, but that one was was pretty awesome. great talent. good find!

farmboy7652 Says:

I was wondering what it means to rededicate your life? I have never read that in the Bible. The video was good, but I thought Jesus was the one in the Bible seeking the sinner, not the sinner trying to get to Jesus.

Kelligh Says:

Good luck to your team at the finale of the Ultimate Fighter. I will be praying for you and others surrounding you. Have a safe trip and God Bless!!

Kelly

SoulEmbraced Says:

@farmboy - Rededication probably means different things to different people, but in general it is simply a renewed commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ, our Creator, our Savior, and our Coming King. It’s just a personal desire to return to Godly living. I don’t think you can separate rededication from repentance, since one flows from the other.

Rededication could also come in the form of renewing a forgotten or neglected relationship. Peter writes:

“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.”

In this case, a rededication would involve a Christian’s return to nurturing that growing relationship with his Saviour, and live a lifestyle that fulfills the committment he once made, but has neglected.

Many examples of God pleading via the prophets for His people to turn from idols back to Him are found throughout the Old Testament. Nowhere does Jeremiah say “rededicate!” but semantically you could describe it that way.

My wife used this exact video to copy off of and did this skit(or human video as other people call it) at our church just last month. Everyone loved it and was touched by it. It’s awesome that you had this same video on your blog and I’m praying for you while your training and can’t wait till the 29th! God bless man!

juandissimo Says:

I have read a few comments to this video (1 or 2) that sort of suggest the video was “off” because God was seen as passive and/or not able to reach the person in her despair.

On first glance I sort of got the same impression - but watching through to the end there is a very real truth to the message that I might have missed if I hadn’t been looking for it. That is that Jesus is not reaching the girl at some critical points in her life - NOT because he is unable, but because she is trying to reach him on her own efforts (literally trying to fight her way back to him) which cannot work.

If we are hell bent on self-destruction then God will let us run completely off the rails of our own will. It is only when we come to realize that we alone are powerless against the trials of this life and that we ask him to put us back on his path for us that he intervenes for us.

If we could “work” our way to Jesus, indeed to our own salvation - there would be no need for his intervention. But the truth is what he said it is “I am the way, the truth and the light, no one comes to the father but through me.”

When the girl finally stopped trying to battle her way back. When she stopped trying to save herself and literally went to her knees asking for Jesus’ intervention - he was there and indeed the gates of hell did not prevail.

farmboy7652 Says:

Soul Embraced, Thanks for your reply. I thought the rededication reference may have been more like getting resaved. I was wondering also what you ment when you said that folks gave their life to the Lord? According to Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith;and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works ,lest any man should boast. According to that God does all the giving. Salvation is not about what I give or commit to God, it’s all about what he gave for me. God gets all the glory.

shalom1224 Says:

Wow! What a powerful video! Juandissimo, I like your response-you hit the nail on the head. God is a gentleman and He will not force us to do anything. If you watch you can see Jesus on the side hidden behind all the cares of the world trying to get her attention. He never left her, she left Him. He was right there to help her as soon as she allowed Him to. How awesome is it that we have a Savior that will fight our battles for us if we only let Him.

On another note, Matt I am so greatful that there are Christian people like you in prominent positions. How awesome is it that the BEST and most decorated fighter in the UFC is a born-again Christian. Thank-you, thank-you thank-you for being a positive role model for us and our children. I pray that God bless you in everything you do.

rdnrdn1 Says:

That is such a powerful video. I had a friend of mine e-mail it to me months ago. I have watched it several times since then including tonight on Matt’s blog. I tell you I still get chills every single time I watch it. It is so true to life. It goes to prove that no matter what battles you face the Lord will see you through. Remember, he will never put you through something you can not handle. God Bless everyone. Good luck onthe 29th Matt.

TomBiggins Says:

Great video Matt, it’s moving, and truthful, but a little flawed. There are reasons there are so many lost people in the world today, one of them being that videos and other things like simple poems or even some preaching put forth the idea that Jesus has no power over sin. Anyone with a remotely close walk with God knows…thats not how it is. Jesus is always there, always ready to free you from your burdens, not battling with these things, WE are the ones battling with them, and we have to be ready to give up the world system for our Father and Jesus. I do not know if you will personally read this Matt, but here is a link to my church in Springfield, TN…it’s a biker church, and unlike many churches, we are here to save the lost, not to be a club for the saved…

I live in St. Rose La (just outside of New Orleans) and we had a group that came in and did this skit for an outreach to children in the projects. It was amazing to see the kids react to it as normally they do not sit still (or quiet) for anything. You could almost hear a pin drop.

jaynsun Says:

Never been on before, so I have no idea if you read this Matt. You will not remember my husband or I, but we attended EIU with you and are from Cumberland and Coles county (now in IN). And my niece is friends with Brynn lol small world! It is really neat seeing you on UFC, we are proud to say we “know” you, and tell everyone what a humble guy you always were. Even though we had always knew you were pretty tough, you never acted better than other people. We used to go out to Stu’s and Sticks on the weekends and would see you once in a while. That was like 8 years ago or so, seems like longer. Anyway, just wanted to say how awesome it is to see how God is blessing you and your family. Congradulations on your beautiful kids. Hope you have a great Christmas and happy New Year!!

the video you displayed is excellent. thank you for sharing God’s message with us. you have always been one of my favorite UFC guys and now that i know that you are a brother in Christ you definitely top that list. i pray that Our Lord Jesus will keep using you for His purpose and pray for your excellence in all you do in this world. Go with God!
